Still smells like leather even after dropping it in the toilet!
I was skeptical about this badge holder, but after reading reviews and since I needed a higher quality one then the frayed nylon type I was using I thought I'd buy it for the price. I've used this on a daily basis for about two months. I am constantly going in and out of doors with my badge so it's got plenty of use. It's held up well so far. It smells like leather, which I like. The leather is a little thin around the plastic display window and it looks like a thin layer of cardboard underneath, but I think it's just the backing of the leather. I even dropped it in the toilet. EVERYTHING GOT SOAKED, but it dried perfectly fine and still smells like leather lol I've had the badge get stuck on something and it pulled on the cord that goes around your neck and it didn't stress or break the cord. I was concerned about this because some reviewers said it broke quickly after purchase. Only thing I was worried about in the beginning was the pouch got a little bulky when filled up and puffed off my body oddly. I took some things out and it still holds a lot. I keep my license, proof of car insurance, health insurance, and an ID card in the buttoned pouch, and I keep 5 cards in the plastic display window side. So this definitely holds a lot! All in all a great item for the price and one I hope to keep getting use out of!

Odd odor wore off great deal still there
Lovely item, just what I wanted, the price was great. Flip side, for a couple of weeks I had this sort of mildewed smell hanging around my neck. It went away and all is well.

Nice badge holder and also holds my USB Sprint 4G internet connector thing in the pouch
I didn't know what to expect after reading all the reviews on this product but decided to take the leap and order --- glad I did. It holds my badge nicely and there's room for another badge that I keep behind my primary. The pouch on the back is perfect for my USB Sprint 4G internet connector --- which is about an inch and a half round. The flap closes over it and snaps easily. I've had this for a couple of months now and it still holds the USB thing securely. The only problem I've had is the grommet that holds the cord on one side (where the cord attaches to the badge holder) came off completely. I fixed it by looping the cord through the grommet on the badge holder and tying a small neat knot. It's only happened on one side so far. It doesn't affect the function or looks enough for me to mess with returning it. One word of caution --- my cord came off when I was walking across a parking lot and the badge holder slipped off nearly undetected. And when I found the metal grommet I tried using pliers to smash it back on the cord to hold it again. The little metal piece broke when I did that (thus the knot). Overall, the leather is nice and I really like everything that's important to me about this badge holder.

Modified For My Need: PERFECT!
My old I.D/Badge Holder wore out after about 12 years, so I needed a new one. Long search, located this Marshall Brand. It was fine, but nowhere to hold a badge. So, I removed the gold colored eyelets/rivets where the cord runs thru, and placed a small piece of beaded chain thru those holes that are now wide enough. I then simply ran my $2 flat leather badge holder thru the chain as well. PERFECT! Great looking I.D./Badge holder. I wish there was a place to post a picture on here.It displays your I.D. & on the other side there is a snapped pocket that will hold your DL, business cards, money, whatever you might need.Feels like it will hold up well. Time will tell.Good product, arrived secure, no hassles.

Great little product.
These are very useful if you have to carry an ID and other credentials at work. The front half contains a window slot for a primary ID while the back half has a slot with a snap closure for other cards. I even have room for a $20 bill which comes in handy in the lunch room when I forget my wallet. Bear in mind that the neck cord is known to separate from from its crimp closure at the eyelet of the card holder. I've owned three of these card holders and each one had this issue. I just tied the end in a knot around the eyelet. Leave a little slack in the knot loop to avoid putting to my tension on the eyelet.

Adequate
I like the leather. I did not like the strap. I can see the strap breaking where it is attached to the cardholder.

An extra dime of material would make this really great.
I buy one of these per year and have tried many different styles...I'm most satisfied with this brand. These seem to hold up longest. The pocket is handy and well designed. The only negative I have is in regard to the window itself. Around the perimeter of the window the leather edge exposes some layers of what appears to be cardboard or thick paper? It's as if the leather is quite thin so it's backed with other materials to make it thicker? After a while this paper layer becomes visible and is a bit ugly but I can live with it since the rest of it is decent and well made. I'll include a pic to show what I mean...I've used the brown leather version as well and it did the same thing, oddly. Looking closer it's obvious this is actually recycled card stock of some kind. It has visible printing on it. The rest of the pouch has rolled seams everywhere and this window edge is bulked with old cardboard. That's pretty lame bro. It'd be 5 stars if it had used some slightly better materials...like an extra 10¢ for pete's sake. Whoever that is.Another detail that would improve it is simply flip the eyelets so the flare is on the back, not the front. It's ugly. See the pic to see what I mean. The petals of the flare should be on the back. Quality is in the details people, whether it's a car or a stupid badge holder.

It's A Great Find
I was looking for a holder for my work badge, which is kind of thick and a little bit long. It goes into this case, but this badge holder is just a little too narrow. The plastic is popping out. I like this kind of holder as it allows you to put money and cards in a compartment in the back, which has a snap to keep it closed. I will continue to replace it unless the manufacturer makes the part where the badge goes a little bigger. I absolutely love this style of badge holder. Anyone who has a DHS badge can understand what I mean about the badge being a little to big for the space in this holder.
