Beautiful Edition
I have been super pleased with this Qur'an. Actually that sounds kind of odd to say, since it is scripture, but oh well. Anyhow, this edition is spectacular with a ton of notes and maps and explanations and stuff. I mean, I think with that there is the possibility that this has some sort of slant to it based on the translator/editors personal Islamic leanings, but since I don't know much about Islam, it has been a super help and I just remember that what people live and explain to me is just as important as how the person who wrote this explained it to me. Not that I have like noticed anything that seemed, biased or anything, just, you know, I keep an open mind. Anyhow, having the notes has been great.I still give it five stars, but the only slightly disappointing thing is while the picture shows a gorgeous green version, the one that was sent to me was a gorgeous, but not quite as gorgeous, red version. The inside is the same and it still is a spectacularly beautiful book, just, I really like green and it would have been nice to get a green one, since that is what is advertised and there isn't even a picture of the red version. Also, I don't know why there is a red version, because I am pretty sure the color green is significant to Islam, but oh well. I am happy.

Best Translation, I've read
This is by far one of the most easiest English translation I have come across to-date. I have many ( >18) of different translators and Tafassirs including M.Haleem, Yusuf Ali, Ib-Khatir, Muhsin, Asad, Yaha Emericket al. But this translation includes the commentaries which are great for understanding the context of the Suras/Ayats. In some cases, the translation includes the assumed words than letting the reader think about what it could mean. That approach is probably appropriate for new readers but it may trouble the purists. Some of the commentaries include examples of modern times and does not always include any related Hadiths that could be available as Br. Yayha Emerick includes. Nevertheless, this is a great collection for those who study Quran as well for those who are reading it for the first time.

Smooth Translation
Overall, I like this book. I have another Quran which is just an English translation, but I was looking for one that had explanations on the historical background of the versus as well as interpretations, so that I could understand better. The smooth and clear translation of this book helps me go through the chapters and verses so easily and that it has the original Arabic version in a smaller font is what I like. Footnotes are helpful, too. What's more, I appreciate the appendices at the end of the book that help clarify some questions that I am asked about different aspects of Islam and Quran.Although, when I got the book, there was a small defect on the front cover, but I don't mind and that's not such an important fact to make me give this book four stars instead of five. After all, what matters more is the content and I am pretty sure that not all the books come with that defect on the front cover.

Just a suggestion!
Its not easy to translate any book, but when it comes to holy books, it requires a double comprehensive research before even starting a translation. After reading Mr Unal's complete interpretation of The Holy Qur'an, I could easily state that this book is the right choice for to those who are looking for a complete, proper and well written translation.Text is easy to follow, and overall it is well organized. The glossary in the back is detailed in great depth. Therefor, one who is not acquainted with any incident in the Islamic history, or an Islamic term, or any other necessary information related to Islam will only have to turn the pages to appendices section of the book.Great translation by a great scholar!reviewed by a bookworm

Finally an annotated English translation of the Qur'an!
We hear many things about Islam. We are told many things about the Qur'an. How many of us have really sat down with the Qur'an to see what it really says? I have always felt hampered because: (1) I can't read Arabic. (2) Previous English translations of the Islamic Holy Book are bare bones and you quickly get lost. This edition of the Qur'an reminds me of my NIV study Bible. In addition to the Arabic to English translation you get incredibly detailed commentary on the text from Islamic scholars. This is a hard read, but there are ~1.6 billion Muslims. That's 23.4% of the world's population. The more we understand the sacred text that forms the foundation of Islamic culture the better we will be able to live peacefully with our fellow humans.
