It wraps around the adjacent sides of the electrical panel, which blocks sideways rain and also keeps the flap from lifting in high winds. This is the key area to keep dry. The rest should remain open so that the generator can breath and will not overheat. **Q: Why does this cost $35 more than the Champion standard version that is also made by Gentent? What's the difference?** A: Hi Darrin, we manufacture and develop a product for Champion which they are able to sell at any price they like. This model while similar, does includes some frame adapters which the Champion Storm Shield does not include; as it is made to fit over 2,000+ generators. The Storm Shield kit is designed to fit all of Champion's open frame generators; not the the variations of frame styles out there.
