The Football Boy Wonder

I didn’t read this book myself but I bought it for my seven-year-old son. To give some background he dislikes reading and whenever he has reading to do he counts the pages and keeps asking if his time is up so he can stop. I’ve been trying to find him something that he genuinely enjoys so that reading is no longer a chore. I want him to discover the joy of reading and the pleasure of losing yourself in a good book. He loves football so after a bit of research I decided to give this book a go. This book seems to have done exactly what I hoped it would. He has genuinely enjoyed it. I am just about to order the second book in the series for him.

My football mad eight year old Grandson loved the first book.He is dyspraxic so has problems with running as his legs are weak.In his head he is the best footballer in his school.I bought him three of the series of books and he cannot wait for the next chapter to read.Well done Martin Smith for writing such entertaining books.

Bought this as a gift for my football-loving nephew. I didn't read it all but read a few pages and it seemed like a good kids story, written in child-friendly language(I'd say 7-11 year olds, depending on reading level). I read good reviews about it which is why I purchased it. He says he likes it. I would consider buying other books in this range.Not terrible quality cover or pages but worth the money spent.

I'm currently reading this with my 8 and 9 year olds and its a super heart-warming read, totally recommend this book

A thoroughly enjoyable read for all the family. My 7 year old daughter loved this story. My 3 year old has enjoyed listening to bits of the story. And our 10 year old nephew who 'hates reading' could not put this book down . It's not just for boys but a life lesson story about grit, determination, friendship and teamwork.
