Antiques in Italian Interiors Volume 1 Hardcover – Download: Adobe Reader, November 30, 2005

This is really one of the best books of antique interiors I have in my collection. The book has beautiful photos on high quality paper. Every page is a new discovery and the narrative is not over bearing. I really recommend this book to any antique collector, interior designer and to everyone who appreciate and adore the classic interior style of an era gone by. Thank you to Roberto Valeriani and Mario Ciampi for bringing these old homes alive to us. Looking forward to see volume no 2.

This book is GORGEOUS!!!! It is absolutely full of the most scrumptious photos of interiors all over Italy. I only wish it came with a tour ticket to see them ALL in person!

The photographs and the selection of interiors in this book are top-notch. The quality of the print is also pretty good. But the paper and the cover are of terrible quality and came completely warped, brand new out of the box, and the binding is also breaking open. The attached picture shows the cheapness of the material, the haphazardly folded dust jacket and the warped cover itself, which causes the spine to bend. The pages inside are of thick but cheap quality paper that instead of falling gracefully, stands up warped. I had this same issue with another book, "Vogue," published by Rizzoli. That book was printed in China as well. It's a pity that so much work to produce such a beautiful volume goes to waste by bad binding and cheap quality. This is one of those books that I'd certainly want to open and leaf through very often. But I can tell already that it will fall apart pretty fast. I did want to also buy the other volume but, given the above, I think I'll pass.EDIT: For some reason, Amazon has removed the picture that I posted showing how warped this book is.

Beautiful book for art and Rome lovers

This has to be one of the most beautiful collection of photographs compiled under one binding.Absolutly worth adding to any serious library. Get lost within its lush images.

I bought this book with the hope I could study the pictures to learn about creating good period interiors. There are some nice shots and helpful descriptions, but about half the book is about the family history of the buildings and the various occupants. This does not mesh well with the title "Antiques in Italian Interiors". It's OK but too much of a history lesson and not enough concentration on ANTIQUES.

Es braucht nicht allzu lange um festzustellen dass dieses Buch in jeglicher Hinsicht vom Niveau her ausnehmend ist. Sehr wertig, sehr gute Fotos , sehr guter Print ,schön gestaltet, visuell und haptisch rundum ansprechend. Hier sollte man das Buch und das Niveau der Aufmachung für sich sprechenlassen. so soll es im Idealfall sein.(ist eher selten so)Wer auf kunstvolle Inneneinrichtungen und die Sprache guter Bilder, die von gloreichen Zeiten und dem Interesse am Schönen erzählen, italienische Hochkultur etc etc steht kann hier wohl nichts verkehrt machen. Von geschmacksfragen einmal abgesehen ,ein an sich selten schönes Buch. Um bei der Thematik Mißverständnissen vorzubeugen, sollte vielleicht noch einmal extra erwähnt werden, dass hier das visuelle, die Fotos und deren Präsentation im Vordergrund stehen. Ob die Texte reichhaltig genug sind hängt wohl von den Erwartungen und Vorstellungen des jeweils Lesenden ab. Ganz sicher wird man zum Thema auch Publikationen mit Schwerpunkt auf textlicher Darstellung finden. Für mein Empfinden ist die Gewichtung genau richtig.Wundervolles Buch vom absolut empfehlenswerten Verbavolant Verlag.
