What is the difference in the blades? Length of cut? How do you know which to order.

The higher the number, the shorter the cut. A 7 leaves hair longer than a 10, but not as long as a 4. Most groomers use a 7 more than any other blade.

What size of blade should I use for my Siberian Cat with badly matted hair

Hi , I am a groomer with 45 years experience. I would not use anything else but a 10 blade, ceramic if at all possible. Stay away from #7 it isn't called the "death blade" for nothing! Cat skin is paper-thin and so easy to cut and even tear! So PLEASE only use a brand new blade and #10 (or 15 if extremely matted) would be better than #7!

Do you still have to oil ceramic blades????

yes and clean them with a brush too. makes them wear a little better. I oil them before use and then again after cleaning.
