Very fresh, high quality oolong
I like to have tea at night when the days start to get cooler, and realized I was all out of my favorites. I balked at the prices at a certain common mall-based tea-seller, so decided to look on Amazon and found this 3-pack of tea. For the price, it's a good amount of tea, and since the packs are individually sealed, the tea stays fresher compared to one big bag. Inside the top lid is another, tighter lid, and popping that lid reveals a lovely oolong scent. The tea leaves are a good size and color, not burnt-looking or shriveled, and when you pour water on them they expand nicely. Brewing for 4 minutes in 200F water results in a very smooth, light tea -- brewing for 6-7 minutes gives you a darker, stronger tea, but still very smooth and tasty. I usually have some sugar in my oolong to take the edge off the bitterness, but this tea is high quality and I don't need to add anything to enjoy the flavor. Re-brews are also good, although due to the smooth flavor I only do one re-brew. For the price, I was pleasantly surprised by this oolong and can happily recommend it to fans of this kind of tea.

Lovely
Love this tea! The aroma and flavor are woody and deep. This is high quality as you get whole leaves that unfold gently as they steep. I have to ration myself or I’ll a cup or two every day.

It is roasted
I didn't realize this was a roasted tea. It's good if you like roasted Oolong. I'm finding times when a roasted tea is very satisfying. I'm acquiring a taste for it. Particularly when it's cold out.

Flavor is similar to that of a dark roast coffee
This not taste like a true oolong tea. I agree with other reviews stating it has a coffee flavor to it. It definitely does, I think it's because it was so dark roasted. Pictures are of the leaves before steeping, after one wash, and two steeps. So if you expect beautiful tea leaves to unfurl it's not going to happen with this tea. Also highly recommend a wash! You can see how dusty it is in the container. ✌️💕

Whole leaves, not cut bits.
These tea leaves aren't chopped up bits of dust and stems like a Lipton tea bag, these are whole leaves curled and rolled. That alone speaks to the quality. When steeping it's best to not contain in a tea ball or other common infusion devices, but instead let free floating to fully unravel as it steeps and then strain off. These leaves benefit from the gongfu tea tradition with multiple short steeps of only 30 seconds and tossing the first steep as a rinse rather than drinking it (as is the custom in the gongfu tea tradition). Each successive steep being different in flavor from the last. The tin is excellent storage to maintain freshness and the first rounds of steeping have a great dark red color.
