Two girls learn the meaning of frenemies. Translation needs work.
A meditation on the nature of female relationships and the complicated nature of being frenemies. The yuri in this one is mainly subtextual but heavily implied, and the story is short but satisfying. However, the English translation needs definite work, as there are mistakes like tense errors and dropped articles. The story is still easy to understand, tho, so if you can forgive the translation (or read in Japanese) this is a manga worth picking up.

Witty and observant
The story spins along, silly and biting and painfully astute. You'll learn a lot about people.

Tease frame
Excellent animation, you only get 3 stars for teasing. So this is an opening story to bad for me. So what's the deal here is this a Yuri romance 🤔?

good, as all of Jane Fallons books
I love all the books of Jane Fallon. I also loved this book a lot. But unfortunately there is a mistake in the story. In Chapter 31 she says that her Ex husband is an only child and inherited a house from his parents.Well, he cannot be an only child, as he has a brother who has two sons, which Betsy visited before. They are her cousins. So one or the other has to be corrected. Besides that error, I really liked the book. Jane Fallon can describe all her characters so very well. I just like her stories and read them all. Funny and heart warming.

Great Read
Never read a book so fast. Well-built characters, including the location which has a personality of its own. Relatable, modern, entertaining and a good laugh. Enjoy!

A wonderful, uplifting read
I was in dire need of a bit of light relief and escapism, and Queen Bee ticked all the boxes. Told from the perspective of main protagonist, Laura, beneath the light-hearted façade, it is something of a morality tale.Laura runs a small cleaning company. Newly (and unwillingly) divorced, she is between homes and on a mission to find a suitable house for herself and young daughter, Betsy, who is currently living with her father most of the time. In the interim, Laura moves into a small flat above a garage (think the ‘servant’s quarters’) in The Close, an exclusive development of plush houses inhabited by people dripping with more wealth than they know what to do with. The women are all botoxed and filled, and live pampered, privileged existences. Laura is befriended by Gail, her amiable landlady, and the majority of the other women in The Close seem pleasant enough, but the one who seems to rule the roost, Stella, is hostile towards Laura from the outset, seemingly regarding her as the ‘dangerous divorcée’ out to get her claws into her fiancé, the slimy Al. When Al wrongly points the finger at Laura for sending him a book with a handwritten message, Stella turns on her and ensures that she is ostracised by the rest of the women in The Close, too.Laura and friend Angie discover something about Al, and she is torn between her dislike of Stella and the moral obligation to let her know what’s going on behind her back. I won’t elaborate, but here the plot thickens – and there are twists aplenty to keep you turning pages deep into the night.Laura is likeable and relatable, and the injustice of her situation will have you rooting for her all the way. The dialogue throughout is wonderful and realistic, and there are some true laugh-out-loud moments. This was my second book by Jane Fallon – I thoroughly enjoyed My Sweet Revenge, too, and suffice to say I’m eagerly lining up my next read from her back catalogue. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something to lift them out of the doldrums and a big fat 5 stars from me!

Great Read as usual
Just like all of her books, this one was fun, interesting and one of those hard to put down stories. There’s always a twist someone and something you wouldn’t expect.

LIGHT READING BUT FUNNY
This is very light reading but she’s witty and has a typical British sense of humour. The story is a bit predictable but I like her writing style. Besides, her and Ricky are such advocates for animals I would support anything they do.
