Volcanica has the best decaf Iv'e tried.
Great tasting and smooth, non-bitter coffee. One just can't go wrong with Volcanica!I've tried 5 flavors now, haven't hit a bad note yet.

Love it
Love this coffee, I drink decaf and it is harder to find a nice rich flavor with lower acidity

Seal problem, not impressed
Not overly impressed with the Espresso roast. I like dark roasts and have other dark espresso roasts that I love, this is lacking depth and intensity compared to others. Also, my bag was roasted on 1/08 and received 2/13, it's super fresh on paper. However, my bad had a seal problem ( - 1 star for that). Not sure if that impacted the flavor.

Best Dark Roast Decaf for half caf blend
We are French Roast drinkers and love Starbucks French Roast. To reduce caffeine we started the make half and half with Starbucks Espresso Roast decaf. SB stopped selling decaf Espresso so we have been searching for a good dark roast decaf. Search over!!! I think we tried every dark decaf we could find (there’s not many) this one is the real deal. Nice darkly roasted beans, robust and smooth flavor and very drinkable on its own. As a half and half it’s the only one we tried that didn’t take away from the SB French Roast. We get a very nice rich and full cup of joe with zero sacrifice for the reduction in caffeine.

Excellently executed, a great thing to enjoy again and again.
I spent many years buying, selling, roasting, brewing, and tasting coffees. My choice bean for a decaf is the Costa Rican Tarrazu bean. Decaffeinated via Swiss Water process and a good medium roast will deliver an excellent product. If you start with a good bean and give it the care that it is due then you can maintain the colors, the depth of flavors, the smooth notes and the mouth feel appropriate to the chosen brewing method. This is especially true when you start with quality Costa Rican Tarrazu beans.Volcanica Coffee has done an excellent job at selecting quality beans, processing to an artisan level and have consistently delivered every time.Volcanica Coffee: Costa Rican Tarrazu Decaf Whole Bean has become my go to for a while now.Brewing methods: Press, Moka, Turkish, Vacuum, Cowboy, Cold, and Nitro

Misleading Roast Level
This coffee arrived about 5 weeks after the roast date, which is good for branded coffee sold from online retailers like Amazon. But still I was hoping for a little bit fresher than 5 weeks, given the emphasis about fresh roasting in the description. I got the decaf House blend, which I think is a pretty good blend, but a little bit bright for my taste. I wouldn't order the House blend again, but I have heard good things about the Puerto Rican from Volcanica. For this price and the amount of beans, I think this coffee is a pretty good deal, but I'll probably try a different origin next time. One thing I was very unhappy about is the roast level. The bag says "medium roast" but it arrived much darker than medium - I would say dark (or full city if you prefer) or a bit darker. I put a few beans from another medium roast bag on the photo so you can see for yourself. Next time I order medium roast, it better be medium. If it's this dark again I won't be ordering this brand anymore.

Title: Bold Flavor Without the Jitters
This decaf espresso slaps! The whole beans are super fresh, and that dark roast hits just right – full-bodied with none of that weak decaf vibe. I love that it’s Swiss Water Processed, so it’s smooth without any weird aftertaste or chemicals. I’ve been grinding it up for my late-night lattes, and it tastes just as good as the real deal, minus the caffeine crash. The 16-ounce bag is perfect too – enough to keep me going without it going stale. If you're hunting for a decaf that actually delivers, this is it!

Total disappointment and a complete waste of good money!
I had high hopes for this Papua New Guinea decaf from the highly rated company, Volcanica. When I opened it (that in itself was an ordeal*), I immediately put my nose to it in anticipation of the rich coffee smell of freshly roasted beans. What a disappointment! It smelled stale and a little dank, like it had been stored in a damp basement- something I've never smelled before in newly opened coffee- even the cheap grocery store brands. I checked for there last date on the package- it was Jan 20, 2022, expiring Jan 22, 2023. It arrived on Feb 2 and I opened it on Feb 3rd. I thought perhaps the smell was deceptive and that once brewed it would turn out to be as advertised: the finest volcanic grown coffee, with unforgettable flavor- in this case with notes of cinnamon and butter with cherry jam. No luck! I ground the coffee in my Prima conical bore grinder for using with my French press, boiled the water. let it come down a few degrees to the perfect temperature, poured it slowly over the grinds and stirred. 4 minutes later I depressed the plunger and poured a cup. Then I tasted it and almost spit it out in disgust. I couldn't believe it- it was literally the worst decaf I've ever tried. I had my husband try it and he was also incredulous and in complete agreement. He had been intending to try the Volcanica Tanzanian Peaberry that our neighbor has raved about, but he's so outraged at the price we paid- 23.99 (even for a full lb. that's premium priced) for a product of such inferior quality that he says he will never buy from this company again. We have a monthly coffee subscription with a wonderful company that roasts single origin beans from around the world, but they don't offer decaf options, so I have to look elsewhere for my afternoon brew.I'm not a fan of dark roast, and that seems to be what is mostly available with decaf So I settle for a medium roast, which seems always to border towards dark. Not my ideal, but if it's fresh and full flavored I will still enjoy it. I just prefer coffee to be on the more mellow, fruitier end of the spectrum. But this was just completely one dimensional, and unpleasant to drink. The term "like dirty dishwater' is appropriate.I won't even try to give it to my daughter who's less picky about coffee. It's substandard and not fit for drinking. Period. $24 BUCKS DOWN THE DRAIN.*Opening the package- it had a pull tab to get to the ziplock opening- was impossible to pull. My husband, who has strong hands and can usually open anything, tried to pry it out with a knife and then with the little scissors on his Swiss army knife. When he finally exposed the tab, it wouldn't pull. Totally useless. We ended up cutting open.
