Yes. Open the top -- remove the paper covering the gel beads -- replace the top. The air freshener will come through the openings in the top.

Hello, The Gel Beads will last up to 90 days depending on the air flow in the space you use them. Increased air flow will reduce the amount of time the Gel Beads are effective. In an area with limited to no air flow the Gel Beads will last closer to 3 months. Hope this helps!

Q: Can you compost the beads? It says it is biodegradable, but what are they made of?

The beads dissolve overtime inside the jar so you can’t compost the beads. However the jar does seem to be recyclable. Not entirely sure what the beads are made of but they made from a gel like substance
