Ordered this no expecting to use it more than once but boy was I surprisedOrdered for an indoor paint job of an upstairs stairwell walls so I could use a ladder and this product worked as it should I could stabilize my ladder on stairs and got the job done, Then I used it for outdoors on unlevel grassy surface to paint some facia boards and I was able to stabilize my ladder once again using this productAlso this can be used as a tool caddy, ladder jack, ladder shelf. Has non skid rubber grippers that worked greatGlad I purchased this product

Sturdy and safe
Very sturdy, rubber grips are good and not cheap made, used it on garage roof 4/12 pitch with shingles, not sure about other materials such as metal or tile. Make sure your steps are very close to level on ladder u will be climbing and centered in ladder pivot, keep objects away from areas when stepping down, safety first. Price is good well built.

Works Great but Heavy
I'm a professional painter and this is my review after owning this for a month now: This does all it that Pivit claims it will and I like it, it's very handy to have and definitely makes ladder use safer on uneven surfaces, but three things; you need 2 of them if you're doing any regular work with ladders, you need to buy the "Tool Boot"s for steeper pitched roofs, and it's heavy, which is a good thing really, but when moving a ladder constantly and having to set up each time, especially if the steel boots are needed, is a real hassle after a few hours. But safety is the issue here and I highly recommend this to anyone who needs to use ladders regularly.

Extremely versatile and effective tool, highly recommend!
I've been using PiViTs for over 20 years and have found them to be extremely effective and versatile tools. Alas, my original one from circa 2005 grew legs and walked off a jobsite recently... I therefore bought a new one on Amazon. I noticed that various Chinese companies are selling knock-off versions of them for lower prices. I chose to go with the original American-made PiViT though. It's a tool that is often employed in dangerous situations, and I would rather trust my safety to a product that I know works and won't fail instead of to some dubious foreign counterfeit version.

Scary as hell, but it works!
First, let me clarify my “low” stars on the easy to use and light weight ratings. Those are both GOOD news! It is not “easy” to get this on the roof or re-position it due to the weight but that makes it much more stable while in use. I am 69 years old and used this with a 4 foot stepladder to re-side a wall above a steep 8/12 pitched roof. I did wear a harness and safety line but it never came into play since the Pivit tool was stable and did not budge while I was on the stepladder even while hammering nails. The ribbed rubber grips on all corners provided great slip resistance which was even better when my weight was on it. I should mention my roof shingles are brand new so I can’t speak to its performance on older shingles. At first I felt the price was somewhat high but I imagine their product liability insurance premiums must be thru the roof, no pun intended! And it also likely saved me several thousand dollars over having to hire a contractor to do the same job.
