Venice, Venice, Venice
Simply: this is the best of the series. I got the feeling the caracters are coming to life. Nathan is grown into a real person, and I am falling in love with his wife. There are three actors: 1. the story flows with little twists. 2. Venice food and cooking, 3. And let's not forget, walks in beautiful Venice, keep a map and google by the hand. Ideal lecture for a Venice and Donna Leon lover.

an excellent read
A very well written thriller which one can't put down, it's so exciting. The author obviously knows Venice very intimately and so the novel is enriched with local colour, so it is almost like a tour of the the city, with lots of comments on the habits of the Venetians, and the problems they face with a decreasing population and and the invasion of tourists without end. The actual plot is clever and convincing, enhanced by humour, not forgetting the hints on Italian cuisine . I look forward to the next book by Philip Jones.

Loved it
I have read and loved all Phillip Gwynn Jones’s Venetian novels. If you love Venice (and also a fan of Donna Leon) you will enjoy this book and all the others in the series. The City, the characters, his cat are, with touches of humour, vividly brought to life. I didn’t want to finish this book (his best so far) and can’t wait for the next one.

His best yet
These books are a great evocation of Venice. This is the fourth “Nathan Sutherland” book. The characterisations are getting better and better. Buy it if you know Venice, and even if you don’t!
