Improving Vocabulary Skills: Short Version

Students love this text. It has five exercises on each group of 10 words so you can see them used in various contexts. The definition of each word isn't handed out freely; you have to infer the meaning from two sentences in which it's used. This leads to a deeper understanding of the connotation and usage of the word. There is also a learning lab online with more exercises. My advice, though, is that you buy this book from the publisher, Townsend Press, if you have a bit more time. They deserve the business for putting together great series of reading, vocabulary, and writing books. (I needed this one in a hurry so I turned to my faithful Amazon and still got a decent price. But they're much cheaper from Townsend Press.

Great book at a great price. I used this for my adult students. Easy to use and understand. If you need help with your vocabulary, this is a great place to begin.

The book is in a good condition, but the first unit just ripped off! Because of that I missed 6 weeks of learning vocabulary.

It's the worst purchase that I have ever had in my life The book was fine at the beginning untill I realized that tens of pages were missing .

My niece needed this book for one of her college courses. Not only did I find it on Amazon but was cheaper.
