Review: Great storage solution - This is a great storage solution. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical when they arrived. The boxes were lighter than I expected them to be. After opening up the box and laying everything out I was very skeptical. Everything seemed a little too light to me, not heavy duty enough. But I pushed on. The hardest part for me was locating the joists. My garage is drywalled and my ceiling is 10 feet tall. Between using a stud sensor and then the tried and true method of hammering little nails through the drywall locating the center and each edge of the joists. I wanted to put the lag bolts dead center in the joists. My joists ran perpendicularly to the racks. After I got the ceiling brackets up the rest was fairly easy. I assembled the racks into 2 pieces, not 1. I was working alone. I was able to get one section up and installed. Once the first section was up the rest was easy. After I got them installed, yes, they are a little on the light side but they are heavy duty enough for the job. They are light but well engineered, well designed. I swung from one of the brackets for a test. I weigh around 210 pounds. There is nothing to stop swaying from side to side. I installed this rack 2” off of a wall. I will mount (2) 8 foot 2X4’s between the racks and the drywall to stabilize it. I was able to complete this in about a day working alone. I’m 67 and I take a lot of breaks lol. Really it took about 3 hours per section. 2 each 4X8 sections. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. Good value.

**Q: What is the true outside dimensions of the rack?  I only have 37" of space to work with and want to know if the outside is 36"**
A: The outside dimension of the frame is 36" x 96".

**Q: Is the 4'x8' unit wide enough to store full sheets of plywood or drywall on?**
A: Yes it’s 4’x8’. I did not try the plywood sheet and don’t recommend it to be stored in it coz it will smash under the other stored items or will be harder to remove those plywood later to use. You can put the plywood under it using anything to tie.

**Q: Does this thing wobble back and forth? There is no cross brace to support it....**
A: It does NOT wobble back and forth.  The angles and multiple fasteners prevent it from moving.  Just follow the instructions.

**Q: Could you hang 4 bikes from the 3x8 rack?**
A: The rack itself certainly could handle the weight of four bikes. The physical space 3‘ x 8‘ would be a little bit crowded. You would need to carefully organize the way each bike is hung.

I installed this 4x8 overhead garage storage rack to free up some floor space in my garage, and it has made a noticeable difference. Once installed, it feels very solid and secure. The rack provides a lot of storage space for items that don’t need to be accessed regularly, such as holiday decorations, storage bins, camping gear, and seasonal items. Moving those things overhead helped clear out a significant amount of floor space. The steel construction feels heavy-duty, and the rack holds multiple storage totes without any signs of sagging or wobbling.
