Q: Can I use this mat for my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine?

I've been using them with my Silhouette Cameo 4. I prefer these to the Silhouette brand. If you place your Silhouette mat on top of the Cricut mat, you can see that the cutting area falls 1/4 inch above the one on the Silhouette. I don't trim the Cricut mats or feed the mat in a different way. I go to my file and move my elements 1/4" or so down and to the right. It works.

Q: How often do the mats need to be replaced or how many uses do you get out of single mat (while replacing the clear cover after each use as suggested)?

These packs come with 2 mats. I write with permanent marker when I start using mine with the date at the top of it. My last set I used for about 4-5 months. I do anywhere from 20 - 100 sheets of paper per week, depending on my orders. I use with cardstock, paper, vinyl, projector film sheets. I use one side for printed mark cut outs and spin top to bottom for solid sheets. (so I'm using every inch lol) I use these with my silhouette machine because they are really sturdy. When the mat starts to lose its stickiness I run under water with a tiny bit of soap, use my hand to lightly scrub clean, rinse and let dry. I love these mats! I have been using circuit mats for about 2 1/2 years

Q: does the awful chemical smell go away? it's either the plastic or the adhesive used, but something smells terrible on these mats.

I know this is an older question back in 2014. I just purchased my Mat set, it arrived in excellent condition, brand new. MAT's STINK ! I have never smelled Mats so strong, ever! I used my GREEN one 3x's and couldn't deal with it. I have them all hanging in my laundry room near a opened window trying to air them out. That CHEMICAL smell is nauseating. Bummed out because I was looking forward to making special cards for New Years! Just can't use my machine until I go get a new mat that I can use.

I did a bit more research and it looks like you can use this for your machine as long as it for paper and not fondant. This one is better for card stock. I would go for the light grip 12x12 if you are using light weight paper.
