Q: Will this work with a z170 motherboard?

Yes. In my case it worked in a asus maximus VIII ranger. Just needed to flash the latest BIOS and all worked fine.

Q: What's the difference between the i7700 and the i7700k?

i7 -7700 comes with 3.6Ghz locked chip with stock cooler which cannot be overclocked as per IntelWhere as I7-7700 K processor are unlocked chips which can be overclocked . i7-7700 K is 4.2 GHZ and does not comes with stock cooler , so the main difference is the Overclocking and the performance

Q: Is there any warrenty without buying 2-3 year protection?

The Intel boxed (retail) 7700 comes with an Intel 5 year warranty.
