Does it stay inflated like a balloon once we blow air in it or it needs continuous intake from an air compressor like the big bouncing castles???

Well, we keep it in the game room and sometimes bring outside even when the weather is bad and it's still standing. We used a air pump to blow it up it's pretty big for a small child. 7 feet long.

Has anyone used this outside? I am a little hesitant to use it out doors, mainly because I don't want a stick or rock to pop it.

So we use it outside all the time. It is very durable. I have 4 wild kids and they are as rough as can be and it is held up well. It is made from the same material as the industrial size ones. We have had since Christmas with no issues and this is the third bouncy I have attempted with them. Worth the money...

can this be used as a ball pit?

Yes, but you will be limited to the number of balls you can put in, due to the opening for a child to crawl in. Our plan is to turn ours into a ball pit as well, if I can ever find the balls cheap enough.
