flies are low laying insects, they like to be close to the ground but any extream odor substance will attract flies place it where the wind doesnt blow for 24hrs poison it with the fly bait and the flies will find and consume it another bait is the Quick Strike fly bait by Star Bar

Q: Can it be mixed with soda to kill mice?

Not sure if it would kill mice (I doubt that it would). After all, it's made for flies. I would stick with remedies that are designed for mice.

Q: will this work in a katchy insect catcher?

In my limited experience the stuff didn't work at all so I would be surprised if it worked in your catcher. I tried spaying it (and it stained everything it contacted) and I tried putting it out as a bait and never saw it attract or kill a single bug.

Q: does it kill the nest?

Since flies dont have a nest...no. And they die too quickly after eating it to get back to a nest regardless.
