Q: How much of the hat contains the waterproof membrane? Another brand only covers the ears with the rest that rolls up being only knit.

This hat only has a plastic waterproofing in the main part of the cap. The folded part that goes over your ears isn't waterproof. Strange they couldn't put the liner all the way down the beanie. You'll get your ears wet with this!

Q: I wear a size 7 5/8 hat. What sizeshould I buy?

I wear a 7 1/4 hat. I bought the small/medium and it's snug. So, I'd suggest large/x-large.
