Soft and Effective for My Doberman’s Recovery!
I bought the ZenPet Pet Recovery Cone for my male Doberman after he developed a hot spot on his back leg. This collar was a huge help in preventing him from licking the area. It’s soft, comfortable, and adjustable, so it was easy to get the right fit. At first, he exaggerated and tried to shake his head, even acting like a baby, but once he realized it wasn’t coming off, he calmed down and just lay on my lap. I love how gentle it is, and it definitely helped him heal from his hot spot. Highly recommend!

Give it a couple days, trust me!
I don't write a ton of reviews, but as a dog lover, felt the need to set some fellow pup owners at ease. I don't have much experience with "cones of shame", but this one so far has been great. Like anyone reading this, I felt horrible about throwing one of these on my dog, but Ive been reassured now.The first time you put it on you feel horrible, and they look so confused. I know all dogs react differently, but I doubt any of them got super happy about the situation. Just tell yourself like I did, this is on for a reason, and you wont heal without it. I leave my 100# dog home during the day at work with plenty of time to try an get at his paw, which I seriously thought he would even with this cone, but it didn't happen. After the 3rd day or so, you see a noticeable change in how they cope with the cone. They "smile" at you when you get home like usual and really seem ok with the situation. This brings me to the actual product review. This soft aspect of the cone end up being the key I think. Your dog isn't used to having their path interrupted by accessories and like mine, will probably be very confused. After a couple days though, you can see them navigating as if it weren't on. They will hit a door jam, and they will continue on by like normal, rather than stop and spin around all confused at what is going on.The construction seems pretty good, and materials sturdy. The one exception being the straps that the collar threads through. Those appear to be fairly flimsy, however other than looks, there is no evidence that is the case. My dog hasn't tried to rip it off, breaking the straps, nor has he damaged it in any way. He is also one of those dogs that can kill any type of heavy duty chew tow in a half an hour. The only other drawback would be the placement of the velcro. The craftsmanship if great, but the strips are thin and radiate out, so depending on your dogs neck size, it may take some trial and error in fitting. You definitely want to have as much velcro in contact to keep the cone shape.Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cone. I realize all dogs are not the same, but trust me, if you leave the collar on and otherwise act as if nothing is different, they will adjust and you wont feel so bad! You will see the benefit of it being a soft cone after a couple days too, as your dog will know when he can just keep on going as normal as they learn that the cone will flex and give.I would recommend if possible to have someone home with them during the first couple days to do some adjustments as needed. If you see them almost compromising the cone, you can learn and make little adjustments until their efforts at removing it are all defeated. As we all know, once they are successful in defeating it once, nothing will stop them. This is a good product and if used correctly will serve you and your pup well.Hope this helps!

Post TPLO Collar
We really appreciated the comfort that this offered our Corgi during his recovery from TPLO surgery. This allowed my dog to rest his head more comfortably than a traditional E-collar. We used this for when he was sleeping and we were sleeping to help deter from licking but while he was active and awake we found he was sometimes able to bend the collar enough to lick. If your dog can’t sleep with the donut which we also have, I recommend giving this a shot!

Sanity Saver
My big buddy is recovering from TPLO surgery. Of course, he was sent home with one of those rigid cone collars. I'll just say he didn't enjoy it at all. Vet said not to use one of those donuts as he could probably still reach his incision.Someone on reddit recommended soft cone collar.I'm so glad I bought this. It's easy to take on and off, so he can potty without the cone on. He wouldn't even go pee wearing the plastic cone. When we replaced the plastic one with this he promptly fell asleep for 4 hours straight. I don't think he could sleep comfortably with the plastic one.Highly recommend this for any pup that needs to wear a cone.My guy is an 80 pound GSD/Boxer mix and we bought the XLarge size for him.

the orginal was awesome this new one shatters
I had one for about 6 years and these were the BEST. I have lent it out and hand washed and it lasted incredibly long. The Velcro was tired to unfortunately I threw it away and ordered a new one. NO NO NO!!!!! The clear plastic is now 100% different. Its way to ridged and non flex. within two days it was wall to wall splits and tears and VERY sharp at all shattered edges. What a shame they destroyed such a great product trying to save a buck. This is now hazardous to your dog and they should NOT be left unattended in this

great item! Dog can sleep in this
This is a really nice cone because it is flexible and the dog can lay their head down. I used this for my Australian Shepherd and pictured here we are using it for my son's American Staffordshire Terrier. Because her head is so big, we didn't even attach it to her collar. We just wrapped it around her head. I like it because it has clear view sections so the dog can see on the sides.Because his dog has sensitive skin, her jowls reacted to the texture of the fabric and the seams. We deal with this by taking duct tape and taping a wash cloth to the area and not only did it help her skin, but we then took it off to wash it.The only issue I had was with the delivery service which was through Pet Food Express. Pet Food Express charged me a ten cent fee for the bag that the item came in. Also: WARNING: the driver automatically added a $5.00 tip on the free delivery! When I complained to Amazon they were unable to take the tip off, but they graciously gave me a $5 credit on my account. I will NOT be buying anything through Pet Food Express in the future because of this.

There should be a size between small and medium
Small is too short, medium is a bit too long. Still it gets the job done to stop my kid from excessive and anxious licking. I just wish the medium were an inch shorter

Comfortable, and easy to put on.
Easy to put on, good for sleeping. I use this cone at night for my Chesapeake Bay Retriever, she tolerates it better at night. The vet is not a fan of this cone, but it has worked for my girl. It is well made too, I have had it for 3 years and use as needed.
