A Deal with the Elf King

One word. Worldbuilding. My mind is shook.
If you're a person who fancies worldbuilding more than romance you will love this. I, on the other hand love my romance and I was constantly wishing there were more moments between Eldas and Luella. But I must say the moments between them that we got were quite sensual and lovely enough that I was appeased.

Felt like it was missing something
I asked for this for Christmas after seeing some book raving accounts on Instagram promote it, once I actually opened it and began reading I felt that I was very underwhelmed and somewhat disappointed. The story is written from a 1st person perspective which would be perfectly fine had it not been for the complete removal of background elements to immerse the reader into the world. The female character, clearly written as a strong lead, acted at times like a young teenager who thinks they know best which made it a struggle to enjoy her narrative on the situation, as although there are moments when the writer hits the nail on the head with dialogue, descriptions and imagery, other times it felt like I had stumbled across an okay written Wattpad piece of romance. The ending feels rushed, consisting of a couple of chapters where the plot is neatly tidied up, while the rest of the story is very slow paced. I would recommend getting it because the plot is great, the delivery is just questionable.

Everything I want in a fantasy romance!
This was one of my favourite reads of 2021. It's enemies to lovers, forced marriage with Hades and Persephone and Beauty and the Beast vibes! I mean... what more could you want.I can't even describe how much I enjoyed this book. It gave me all the feels, I laughed, I giggled, I screamed in frustration and it was amazing! The world-building is beautiful, I loved the magic system and learning about the history of the world and the creatures that inhabit it. I loved the cast of characters as well. There's a found family feel to their relationship. Luella is one of the most determined and strong female MCs I've read about and I loved how grumpy and broody Eldas was! Honestly loved their romance and I wish we had so much more of them!100% recommend this easy to read, fast-paced and incredibly enjoyable read!

Loved this book!
I really enjoyed reading this one. Elise kovas writing style was perfect for me, the story was original and interesting enough that I didnt want to put it down but I also didn't want it to end either so had to try and slow down at the end. I'm very much looking forward to reading the other two married to magic novels as well as others by elise.

Love this book!
I couldn't put this book down and read the entirety of it in a day. The building of the world and the characters within it are easy to understand unlike other fantasy books I have read where different species are added for no particular reason. The plot kept me gripped and the main characters were delightful.I particularly love this trope, where the other being (in this case the elf king) marries to a human. It makes you feel as though he could sweep you away too. Eldas (the elf king) was lovable from the beginning to me, however his character development was very fun to unravel. Often times when I am reading this genre of book, I feel as though the main character is too petty and I become frustrated, however Luella is a character that thinks with reason and you can understand her thoughts better as she is relatable, after all she is a human.Loved this book! Can't wait for the next book in the married to magic universe. In the meantime, I may pick up some others from Elise Kova.
