Q: Can this be used in a fireplace? Min height for grate? Min height for rotisserie? How far apart are adjustable positions for grate?

I would think it would have to be at least 36 by 36 inches and that would be without the handle so I would think no, unless it's a very large one. The grate is adjustable but the stand is not, and the width is fixes to >24 inches.

Q: What is the height from bottom of grill to the ground? Will it fit over a standard fire pit at my house?

Yes, it is built to work with standard campground fire pit so if yours is same or nearly the same it should fit. You can always put some bricks under the legs to raise higher if needed. It's a cool grill for the money.

Q: Also, for turning meat, if you turn the crank half a circle, does it stay in that position on its own or do you have to hold it. Thanks.

This has four cooking positions. You will not have to hold it.

Q: What is the max weight the spit can handle

I found it to be very sturdy, but I don't recall seeing any max. weight in the instructions.
