Would the cable be suitable for leaving outside permanently, will the casing perish in bright sunlight over a prolonged period?

I don’t know. But mines outside so we have to wait and see

Will this be ok outside in all weather? I have a water feature and has lights so need a double socket and only have a single socket outside

Yes they are for out side as long as they are installed. Ok I have mine in the garden for my lights.

Is IP rating maintained even if only one pulg socket is being used?

Yes as long as you close the front cover completely

Can this be used indoors on a standard eletric wall socket?I have a naughty little Chihuahua thats looking to get something zapped off!

Yes it can! You can just plug it in to a standard wall socket. The unit will need wall mounting (easily done with rawlplugs and screws provided). It will of course have a cable running from the unit to the wall socket, so if your little friend chews on it, they could still get shocked.
