This is an upgrade over Nooelec NESDR Mini USB RTL-SDR & ADS-B Receiver.
I just hooked this up yesterday and WOW! This little dongle, which felt/looked cheap and didn't fill me with a lot of hope, is awesome! It doubled the distance of detecting planes. Where I was getting max distance of 110 NM, I'm now getting 211 NM. Also, the number of planes detected has also increased. I live 30 miles from one of the busiest airports in the world so I clock a lot of planes every day. I was using a Nooelec NESDR Mini USB RTL-SDR & ADS-B Receiver that currently costs about the same as this dongle and it only cover half the distance. I recommend this dongle if you're looking to increase your distance. setup was easy as I just unplugged the old dongle and plugged this one in. I shut down my raspberry pi first, installed the new dongle, then restarted the pi. I immediately noticed a difference. For the money, this is a great upgrade.

I bought this to use with a Raspberry Pi Zero W + cantenna for sharing data with FlightAware / RadarBox / Flightradar24. It works perfectly. Very occasionally I run into a problem where the Pi will stop receiving data due to it not being able to detect the stick, but I'm not sure if this is due to the FlightStick, the Pi itself or the USB adapter cable. It resolves itself after a reboot and I can go for months without having an issue so haven't felt a need to investigate too much further.

Well worth it!
An absolutely amazing bit of kit. I went from an RTL-SDR V4 to a Nooelec NESDR Mini 2+ to this and all I can say is... WOW! I use a home made "Cantena" and when compared side by side with the others due to the the built in filter and amplifier I get at least a 40% increase with no other changes. You can easily see the day I installed this. An average of 60,000 to 100,000 positions per day! Great value and great coverage! 😊
