Definitely not for *cold* weather, but...
The main reason I bought these was for outdoor photography. I liked that the finger caps flapped back but only on the thumb and forefinger. That's really all I needed, and with many gloves it's all or nothing, both in terms of fingers AND flaps. When they arrived, the fit I had chosen was perfect and nothing about them seemed cheap or flimsy. The material and the snaps for the finger flaps were all of good quality.HOWEVER, when the manufacturer states that these gloves are not recommended for temps below 36F, they mean it! I've tried using them when the temperature was right around freezing and my fingers and hand were ice cold in no time. They have a thin microfleece lining but are really not very insulated at all, and it almost seems as though the wind soaks right into them. This is with all fingers capped, too. If you're looking for gloves for photography, fishing, or shooting at temps above 36F, you'll love these things. If (like me) you were hoping for something a bit more insulating, you should look elsewhere. If anyone from Palmyth is reading this, please design an activities glove just like this that would keep our hands warm at lower temperatures!

Not warm by any means AND NOT WATER PROOF AS ADVERTISED!
Update! Went fishing this morning the sprinkling rain. Even though they aren’t warm gloves I figured that keeping my hands dry would keep my hands warmer than being wet. They advertise these gloves are water proof/resistant. After an hour and a half my hands felt wet. Fish weren’t biting so I never needed to have my hands in the water. After 4 hours out I returned to the car. Took off the gloves, found pieces of the orange linking stuck to my hands and fingers were pruned from soaking inside the gloves. I want my money back but after this review I seriously doubt they will be so willing to do so. I’ll never by anything this company makes again and don’t recommend anyone else buying them either. If you are looking for warm ice fishing gloves then don’t buy these. I got them Monday in the mail and just happened to be going fishing. It was 41 degrees with a 3-5mph wind. My hand felt frozen after 45 minutes. I was in my kayak on a a large farm pond 2 hours before dark. Greatly disappointed in the warmth of these gloves. I actually prefer my 20 year old wool fingerless gloves with the mitten pull over. These gloves, although not warm, do in fact have cool features and did fit nicely. The sizing chart was right on the money. I like the magnets that hold the fingertips back on the gloves. Very cool design. If these gloves actually kept your hands warm they would be that much better. A waste of $35 if you ask me.

Good cold weather gloves for photography
I am an amateur landscape photographer. The nature of landscapes is (1) they are outside, and (2) the nature of winter is that it is cold outside, and (3) the nature of a camera is that it has buttons all over it that are necessary to suitable landscape photography. The nature of fingers -especially my 70+ year old fingers-is that they get painfully cold when outside in the winter. Ordinary gloves add a layer of thick fabric to the fingers, rendering it difficult to feel, locate, and touch the necessary buttons. I nearly gave up winter landscape photography because of this. These gloves solve all of that. Although the fingers on a hand that is exposed to the winter will get painfully cold when the entire hand is exposed, when only the fingertips are exposed the blood in the protected hand circulates through the fingers greatly reducing the discomfort. With these gloves, you can quickly remove the fingertip(s) as needed, take the shot(s) and then quickly replace the glove fingertip. Sometimes I can leave the tips off for a while because the fingertips stay reasonably comfortable even when exposed.Highly recommended for landscape photographers.

Getting used to them
I am a real estate photographer in Missouri, so we have some cold winters and regular gloves don't allow me to operate the camera or drone well.I like that I can use 3 fingers rather than just two like some other gloves. The velcro is nice to adjust the size. They feel a bit bulky. I wear a medium to large glove and these feel good on my wrist, index, and middle finger) but bulky on my ring and pinky. I think that is more me than the gloves. I think once I get used to them it will be better. I have used them a few times in the field on 30ish degree days and it was far better than having no gloves at all. As for colder weather, since I don't use them for long periods I am sure they will be fine. For $40 I think they are well worth it!

Finger tips don't fit tightly
The problem I have is with the flip down tips. They are too large in diameter in relation to the rest of the gloves. While this problem affects the thumb and the two fingers, I will use one of the fingers as an example. The flip tip has an inside diameter of 1.625" and it is designed to be slipped over the finger of the glove that has an outsize diameter of 1.425" This allows a gap of nearly 1/4 inch between the two pieces. Not only does this let cold in but it also means that the tip won't stay in place. Any flexing of the hand, for example, gripping an ax handle, causes a gap to open between the tip and glove finger.I have tested gloves from other companies (unfortunately not available in XL) where the fingertip fits tightly on the glove finger and stays closed when the hand is flexed. I will also note that only the layer of the material on the bottom of the glove have any lining/insulation. The back of the hand and the top of the fingers are all single layer. I have written to the manufacturer using the address provided in the package and will update here if they respond.

Great for Steelhead fishing
I bought a pair of these that I used in mid-November in Ohio for Steelhead fishing. I think they are perfect for that use. My hands were warm the entire time. Even in handling wet line over 6 hours they didn't get soaked. I inadvertently got one hand completely wet up to the knuckles and they dried in about a half hour. Additionally, despite the temps being in the low 40s, my wet hand didn't get cold despite the temperature and the fact the glove was soaked. For the money, these are a great buy. I typically wear XL gloves and ordered the XL size and it fit as I expected it would.
