4mm Bike Shift Cable Housing & Kit 10ft 50ft for MTB Road Bike

I have performed all of my bicycle maintenance myself for decades. It's not overly complicated and quite satisfying, however cable housing are an often overlooked element of bicycle maintenance. They perform an important function for many years and often perform well with years of neglect, but this is not how they should be treated. The degradation in performance it's so slow that it's easy to overlook as the cause of poor shifting and poor braking. I recently purchased these housings in an effort to improve the shifting on a classic bike that I still ride. These cable housings arrived quickly and I could notice immediately that they seemed to be of a very high quality and we're offered at an extremely reasonable price. With proper tools, installation is very straightforward. New cables and cable ends are also an important part of this procedure to ensure that the job is properly done, and these I also purchased on Amazon. Proper measuring is important for routing of the housings and a light coat of grease can help ensure smooth operation for many years. I have purchased this product multiple times and will continue to do so in the future.

For what there cost for 50ft I honestly was expecting a mid grade cable housing but I was pleasantly surprised to find this housing is excellent and the value is outstanding. In terms of cutting it to length using my park tools cable housing cutter the cut was clean and didn't have any sharp edges. Installation was also super easy as the cables slid all the way without any issue or friction. Even my cheaper cable that isn't coated to make is slide easier. Durability on these is good as well, when I was routing this housing I made way too hard of a turn and thought for sure the housing was going to be linked but it bounced right back. The cable is bang on 4mm and the length was the full 50ft I paid for.

this cable housing works great as a replacement for my MTB shocks remote lockouts.

For a budget installation on an old bike, this housing is just fine. The poly liner lets cables pull smoothly and will probably help fight corrosion. Would be five stars if it came with ferrules for the ends. Tigerdog sez "Four Stars"
