Double Sided Diafold Sharpener - Fine

I have a full set of these handy sharpeners and while I don’t think they are great for finish work, they work great on knives in the field. I have a coarse one for hatchets and such plus a fine and extra fine for my knives. I carry average quality knives so they don’t have exotic metals that never rust or get dull. They need occasional touch ups to stay sharp. I have found that the extended length from the folding handles are really helpful to keep the angle of the blade precise allowing the smaller sharpening surface to act like a much larger stone. The handle also protects the hone when folded up. I haven’t found anything more durable, handy and compact than these sharpening stones.

Any product from DMT is excellent. For sharping my hunting and kitchen knives, the red, fine version is my favorite. The green extra fine is also very useful. I like this particular folding version because it fits easily in my drawers or pocket.

The title claims this DMT sharpener is double sided, but it is not. DMT does make a double sided sharpener nearly identical to this. The handle on the one I received is different than the picture as well. It’s not a bad product, far from it, it’s a great sharpener that deserves a 5 star. But if you are buying it thinking it’s a doubled sided sharpener, keep looking around- this aint it.

The DMT line of sharpening products are the best that money can buy (well, smart money that is). I am certain that you can pay more, but if you purchase DMT, you will never regret spending that money. Take the time to read the directions. Do not apply too much pressure during the first few times you use their sharpening products. I use this "Extra Coarse" sharpener, primarily for gardening tools. You will be amazed at how much easier a sharp shovel or hand trowel is to use than a dull one. If you are a camper or outdoors person, this will make ax sharpening a breeze (again, a sharp ax is a safe ax, wood cutting becomes effortless, the blade never seems to bounce out or off of the wood). I did, however, gorilla glue a piece of metal to the back so I could use this in the standard, magnetic, DMT angle sharpener gizmo.

The sharpener seems to be of decent quality, like most DMT sharpeners. However, it clearly states that it is a double sided sharpener. It absolutely is not. They should send another one to every person they screwed over.

I like these diamond files. They sharpen everything I need to sharpen very well/perfect. The reason I'm giving it three stars is. The information provided at the top says. These files are DOUBLE sided. Mine is only one side with a gray handle, not the clear one. Maybe a simple mistake???
