Knitting More Circles Around Socks is the second volume of Antje Gillingham's sock books. This book clearly presents both her wonderful Cuff down methods, and her new instructions for knitting the socks toe up, as well as several patterns for each method.I had the first book Knitting Circles Around Socks, and I loved it. I love this book even more. She expanded the sizing charts to include Children's socks, added sock anatomy diagrams for toe up socks to accompany the wonderful ones for cuff down socks, and plenty of clear pictures of the techniques for both methods of sock construction. There are tips and tricks included throughout the book on the best ways of managing the socks and yarn to prevent tangling and confusion.The patterns included in this version take full advantage of some of the current sock yarns, including one for the sock blanks you unravel, Maizy, Fixations, Paca Peds, and some of the gorgeous patterned yarns. There are cables, lace and some terrific slipped and twisted stitch patterns.This is the book I recommend to everyone who asks me how to knit socks two at a time, as one of the clearest step by step introductions to the method. Plus with the section on converting patterns for standard double pointed needles to the two at a time method, it's really a one stop shop for the technique, allowing you to move beyond the listed patterns to using any of the beautiful sock patterns out there.

As a long time sock knitter, I had looked for a book with good information on basics for toe up knitting, particularly heels for two socks at a time, on two circular needles. This was an impulse purchase, and probably one of the best I have ever made. The instructions, both cuff down and toe up, are superb and would be excellent for any level of knitter. I have already recommended it to friends.Yes, you need to know basic knitting before starting the book, but I believe a sock novice could successfully use the simple patterns and learn along the way. The photography of the basics such as casting on, distribution of stitches, how to start knitting, etc. are very good and easy to follow. There are more complex socks for more advanced knitters and a nice variety of patterns.The book is split with the first half being cuff down and the second toe up, so it is easy to find what you want. It is a clear read without idiotic commentary in the instructions.If you know someone struggling to learn sock knitting, buy this book for them. (or at least suggest it!)And even when I am not knitting, I enjoy the layout and writing...to read and think and plot my next pair!

This book has very good pictures and text to explain the process of casting on two socks at one time. I really like that it includes techniques for both cuff-down and toe-up socks. The patterns are also very nice. I expect to use this book a lot for future knitting projects.

The book is well written, good pictures & several patterns in various yarn weights. So far I've only knit one pair of socks from the book & it seemed rather odd at first because the instructions were much different from any other pattern I've used. I am happy with the completed pair of socks & ready to try another more complicated pattern.I liked the idea of knitting both socks at one time because I've made other socks (1 at a time) and it always seems one fits slightly different than the other-which makes me crazy! This way if my tension is tighter on the heel, toe, etc. it's the same on both & it feels normal.

I took a sock knitting class and my teacher referred to this book a lot. I had to purchase it before I started the class. It has a lot of good information. The skill level of the socks range from "easy" to "advanced" so it isn't actually a starter book but it is a new favorite of mine. I'm on my second pair of socks and I'm surprised at how much I enjoy knitting them. I plan on making all of the socks in the book.

I paid $47 for this book, listed as new. There were pencil notes and checkmarks in it. I have erased them as best as I can but I expected a new book for the money. I still look forward to making socks in here, and feel it will help me to be successful, because I have never made a sock I have liked and I do suffer from second sock syndrome.

I loved this book with its' easy to follow instuctions and patterns. Perfect for the experienced sock maker or the beginner. I have found a new favorite pattern and making 2 socks at once is going so quickly. I am going to purchase the first book also as I prefer to make socks cuff down. You can't go wrong with this pattern book.

There are some very interesting patterns,but the style of writing was/is not always particularly clear. Useful, but not going to be a favourite I feel.

Everything is easy to follow in this book for such an unusual technique. I love being able to complete two socks at the same time and love the variety of patterns.

I bought the first book and it introduced me to two socks at a time on two circular needles, now I don't want to knit anyother way. You do not need to purchase the first one in order to understand this book. All the explanations are in here too. The patterns are a lot more challenging, I would think this book to be more for the experienced knitter. If you want to just learn the basics and a few patterns buy the first book.
