Q: I wear 36" pants what size belt should I get?

On the Black Scorpion web site they say a size 36" should order a large. I'm a 38" and the XL I ordered fit perfectly. It's all velcro so you can loosen or tighten it to your comfort. Go to the Black Scorpion web site as they have lots of helpful info there.

Q: how big is the belt regarding its belt loops sizes? (ie if you were wearing it, how "tall" is the belt)

In response to your question, I pulled out my belt and measured it. Both the inner and outer components measured just under 1 9/16" (effectively 1 1/2"). Of note is the fact that both sections are 1/4" thick, so you'll probably need pants that have belt loops with a minimum internal "height" dimension of approximately 1 3/4" in order to put the belt on and adjust it without undue effort. Hope this helps!
