The One Year Josh McDowell's Youth Devotions

Awesome youth devotional
I bought this book for my 11 year old son who is in middle school. He had been having a little trouble so at the advice of our pastor I bought this for my son. The break down is basically one devotion per day and it is labeled with the month and date for each day (365) devotions. It has a scripture reading and then goes into the devotion/reading for the day. At the bottom of the page there are reflection questions for the child/teen to ponder, an action to fulfill to help them apply what they have read, and then finally a prayer. It can be done in 10 minutes or so. Perfect for those tween/teen years. No excuse not to spend a little time with God each day!! :) I would recommend this for anyone searching for something solid for a child who needs a little more structured devotion time.

Great devotional for child alone or Parents and children to read together.
I am reading this daily (well almost daily), with my son. It is very well written and an excellent devotional that we can do together or individually. There is plenty of depth and thought that went into this book. Josh McDowell is great and this devotional will really make your child think. I would recommend this for 12 and up if they are reading it alone by themselves but it is something that is great to do as a parent/child devotional. In that case I would say that even 8 years old would not be too young to get started with this devotional. I've learned a lot from it myself and I am almost 60.

Fantasic book to start a discussion
I have 3 kids, so I wasn't sure that this book would be good for all of them. Each day is only a page long, with a verse and then a reflect and pray sentence or two. The story that is told to reaffirm the verse is very basic, but gets the point across. I find this book to be a fantastic discussion starter. While the book itself doesn't get very deep it certainly opens a door to discuss all kinds of things with my kids. And tells it in a way that I might not thought of explaining it to the kids to begin with.I highly recommend this book whether you only have 10 minutes to spend on it on certain days, or have plenty of time to discuss. I love this book and the extra time I get to spend together.

Love it1
I leave this on the kitchen island and require each of my four children to read the daily page each day. I ask them to read it in the morning so that they start the day off on a positive note but as long as they read it during the day at some point, I am happy. We also have the family devotional and the books correspond with each other which I did not know but was pleasantly surprised to find out! There is always a quick lesson for the day and it is easy to read..works well for my kids ages 10, 14, 16, 17.

Start the day on a positive note.
We read these on the drive to school in the morning. They're the perfect length. Great mini lessons and a positive way to start the day!

It's a keeper
We really like this book. I purchased this book for my Conformation class. Each week one of the girls will take the book home and find a devotion they like and read it in class the following week. They like that the stories relate to things that truly go on in their life's. We almost always get into a discussion either with the story itself or with the question to ponder at the end. The prayer at the end always relates well to the story. I think it works really well in this setting.

Excellent for teens!
We just got this one and the family devotions which I use for my 7 year old twins. My 12 year old gets a lot of the family one as well but the youth is geared more for middle school, etc. These are short and quick but to the point with a scripture to back it up or expand a bigger study on. I love them! Can't recommend it enough if you need some guidance with where to start with your kids or if you are an experienced person just looking for something new!

Great!
This was for my 15 yr old granddaughter. Here is her comment..."I love how it's something quick and easy to read every morning or whenever you have even 5 minutes. It's directly to the point and teaches you a new lesson each day. It has really made me realize how good I have it...What I love about this book is that it doesn't preach and tell you what you should and shouldn't do, but suggests things to think about throughout your day and the point it's trying to make, not enforce..."

I would recommend this book to any christian parent or parents who wants thier children to grow in the faith. It is contributing immensely to shaping my boy into a God fearing, responsible, loving, caring and respectful lad. Many thanks
