SB-82100 Classic Series Black Snap Back Thermometer with Black Case

Got this to replace an old Formotion oil-filled thermometer I put on my motorcycle. The old one was quite accurate, but after having it for eight years, had started leaking oil. This one is still as accurate, even though it is a bi-metal coil unit, and is surprisingly just as heavy. Since it is not illuminated like the dash instruments, I find the white numerals and dial are easier to read than the black on white units, especially in low-light. Great to have a thermometer you can trust when you're riding in the rain, and the temp is dropping near freezing, so you know when to watch for ice.

I use this on my motorcycle and enjoy being able to see the temperature change during the day. I lost the last one due to fogging within the gauge, but this was after around 6-7 years of riding, and I live in the Pacific NorthWet. Nope not misspelled, just a reality when you are a regular rider in Washington state.

Feb 2014 update: I took mine off my motorcycle because my friends' built-in thermometers always read lower temps. Mine was just too much influenced by the sun.March 11, 2013 update: Yesterday I rode in overcast drizzle 43 degrees (unfortunately with summer gloves). Seemed accurate. I'm going to fashion a white plastic cover over the thermometer, fastened at the top with tape as kind of a hinge, to lessen the effect of the sun, the condition that seems to cause an inaccurate reading.Original Review: Two friends of mine have thermometers built into their motorcycles, and they both read lower temps than my new Formotion, with temps around 50 degrees and below. Mine is sometimes exposed to the sun, but there wasn't much sun to speak of. Mine checks perfectly with a home thermometer at 72, but I'm more interested in the near-freezing range. I'll update this at some time if and when I'm more confident regarding its accuracy.

Nice product. Easy to read, and I like the dual scale (degrees F & C) Installing the optional mounting kit was easy, but my only concern was in removing the snap back cover where the inner workings are exposed - I'm worried about moisture getting in there after breaking the factory seal. I live in Ketchikan Alaska - lots of rain!

I used two known good temperature gauges to compare against the Fo. Both read within 0.75 degree of each other: 60-61. The Fo read 68. Simply doesn't make any sense to buy one of these.

I installed this on the dash/instrument cluster of my '02 BMW R1150RT, using hook & loop tape. Unfortunately, due to the RT's opposed twin engine configuration, the needle bounces. This item could be better damped, especially for the price :(

This Thermometer is everything it wa advertised to be. It is accurate, easy to read and looks awesome. Ordering and delivery was easy and fast.. We'll certainly come back for more items like this in the future.

I purchased this thermometer a year or more ago and mounted it in our Jeep. There was a delay in shipping due to availability (which is the reason for the 4-star rating), but other than this it suits our purpose well.
