However, my car is being serviced for a safety recall and I was provided with a loaner vehicle that had a dirty windshield and a completely empty windshield washer reservoir. When I was driving into the setting evening sun and tried to clean the windshield, the wipers just dragged across the dried gunk. When I got home I grabbed an empty one-gallon water jug, filled it with tap water, and added one volume of the Nextzett washer fluid measuring cup built into the bottle. I poured the contents of the jug into the reservoir of the loaner vehicle, activated the washer, and with a few sprays and wipes the windshield was clean — no dried gunk or streaks left behind where the wiper swept the windshield, but black dirt at the limit of the wiper path. The Nextzett seems to spread more easily than the Rain-X premix, which forms drops on my windshield. The Nextzett creates a nice soapy film but is easily cleared by the wiper blades.
