Spigen Tough Armor [Extreme Protection Tech] Designed for Galaxy S21 Ultra Case (2021) - Black

So many phone cases to choose from, and I picked this one because it wasn't ugly/gnarly (like OtterBox), and it had a flat back (instead of having a lip around the camera). It has worked great for 3.5 years, successfully protecting my phone from many falls, a couple even from ladders onto concrete.However, the about 3 years in, the matte/rubbery surface started to wear off, leaving a smooth, shiny, and hard plastic surface on the back and sides. A few more months in, and the plastic started coming apart around the power buttons. Now the plastic has started rapidly deteriorating, resulting in cracks at the corners and total loss of the case around the camera side of the phone. Time to get a new case!I feel this case provided a good value for the money, but wish it lasted longer. While the thickness isn't bad, I wish it were a bit thinner. There are two layers between the back of the phone and the back of the case, making the camera's protrusion recess about a millimeter inside the case. I wish this were less, so the camera was nearly flush with the back of the case--all that protection on the back of the phone seems unnecessary.

I've been using Spigen cases since my Galaxy S7. Had 1 case on my S8+ for 4 years and it's still like new. Point is, the material holds up and keeps it's look.. I ordered this for my new S21 Ultra. I don't feel like this phone is meant to use without a case. This tough armor case definitely makes it feel like a sturdy device and very protected. It's got more padding than previous spigen case, as expected from the description, pics, and name, Tough Armor. It just feels solid, and the edges of the case provide spacing on both front and back to prevent any rocking or scraping of screen or camera when setting on flat surfaces.I didn't know what to expect from the kickstand and don't tend to prefer the extra piece. It's non intrusive, you don't feel like it's even there. But also, while it's sturdy enough to stand the phone up, it's doesn't seem very heavy duty. I'm not sure it needs to be. However, if that's an important feature to you, it's fair to know what to expect. It doesn't effect my review or rating.I love this case, and would recommend it to anyone buying a galaxy s21 Ultra. I'd recommend Spigen to anyone, for any phone there is a case available.This is an unsolicited review. However, if Spigen wanted to send me anything to test out, hit me up!

The S21 Ultra has one major annoyance for me, the camera cluster sticking out of the back preventing the phone from sitting flat on a surface or even fitting quite right in your hand.Of all the cases for the S21 Ultra, not many of them have a design that fixes this.So this case is one that does. This brand I have had before and always find the quality to be great, especially for the money and I never had issues with protection.This is a bit more bulky than some of the other cases. I also have the Rugged Armor case from the same brand, but I like the feel of the buttons more, I like how this fees in the hand more, and you get a kickstand.I think having something that feels nicer to hold and operate makes up for the slightly larger size, and as a bonus you should technically get better protection.The thicker borders also mean when swiping from the end of the screen your not scraping a sharp edge like you do with a thin case.I did A/B testing with all 3 of the cases I have over the course of a week and this ended up being the top pick and won my personal choice for best all around case.I do not have issues with the material not having grippy texture on it because its thick enough that I get a good grip on it and the way its beveled is very comfortable and pleasing to me even when working and using the phone one handed.There is no best case for everybody, but this I think is worth considering if your not specifically looking for something else for a different reason.
