This compost caddy is great. It is well made, sturdy and the lid fits snuggly. The bags fit perfectly and don’t show at all on the outside of the container so the container keeps its sleek look. The majority of the time there is no odor. If I do get a whiff of odor I just compost that bag and put in a new bag. The plastic bag holder can pick up some odors but they wash out. Interesting that even after emptying the full compost bag and the plastic container has an odor usually there was no odor outside of the container. Great buy.

6 months so far. Perfect for us two. It’s exactly the right size for the sink counter, easy to open with a nudge, toss stuff in, close with a flick, no smells! I just use it free standing, no magnet. It’s smallish so regularly have the extra bag that goes directly to the Aerobin composter, but this caddy holds an amazing amount of the veryday coffee grounds, veg ends, peels, eggshells and i often just smash it down and it magically keeps disappearing. The container insert is simple sturdy and waterproof and there is no spillage or leaking. I love it. Thank you simple human.

i love this caddy. honestly, i don’t use it properly for compost. i mostly use it as a convenient trash can while i cook. so i don’t have to walk back and forth. love that it hooks on the trash can too. looks great.

My county has just started weekly curbside compost collection. A lidded pail was provided along with the curb bin, but the smell bothered my husband enough to banish it to the garage, making it hard for me to quickly toss eggshells, avocado peels, etc. Checking a lot of reviews, it looked like this one would do the trick, and I'm pretty pleased with it so far. Pros: Sturdy construction, very easy to pull apart, the green liner tub is strongly made and quite smooth for easy cleaning. My 3 gallon compostable bags line it quite nicely, albeit with plenty of extra bag "fabric" to fold over the rim -- actually a plus, as the bags don't have drawstrings, and this means I have enough to tie them off. Very nice looking. I'm pretty sure it traps the smell better than the county plastic tub. However I cannot guarantee that as my husband requested I keep it in the fridge so the scraps are kept quite cool. Cons: Not a problem for me as I don't usually generate enough food waste in a week to stuff it, but it is a fairly small volume. If you're cooking for large groups and have a ton of vegetable peels, bones, waste fat, and such, you'll be emptying this pretty often. As I said, 3 gallon bags are more than enough for it. Yet slim as it is, it doesn't fully fit in the fridge door bottom shelf (the only place I have room for it in there, and that shelf can hold gallon jugs of milk) and I'm concerned I'm going to crack the shelf plastic. Plus the only handle is the notch on the back side intended for socketing onto a large trash bin, so I have to two-handed grab the bin out when I have more than a small handful of things to drop in it. Since the top portion of the bin is held on only by gravity, if I forget and grab it too high up I just pull up the top. I'm still happy with it, but a lifting swivel handle would do wonders. The fridge door shelf problem isn't this bin's fault in the slightest, so the one star off is due only to the handle issue.

Researched on YouTube and decided on this one. Great decision! This thing looks good on the counter, closes tightly, uses disposable bags inside which you cannot see from the outside, and I finally have a fruit fly free place to put scraps while I'm cooking!

When kitchen recycling became mandatory in NYC, I thought I would hate it. Too much trouble, and where would I find space in my small city kitchen? But I got this container and now I actually love composting. It sits right on my counter, taking very little space, and I can deposit peels and pits and eggshells and such just inches from my kitchen work area--no more peels landing on the floor by my big garbage can. Trader Joe produce bags fit just fine so I don't even need to buy special bags. Since most of the stuff that gets stinky goes in here, my bigger garbage stays fresh much longer (unless I have plastic with fish or chicken essence on them). The biodegradable bags are delicate and porous, so I deliver them to the building bin in the green insert to safeguard against any splitting or leaking bag disasters. I have noticed that the green inner bin collects clear, odorless liquid that must seep through the biodegradable plastic, so I just rinse it before putting in a new bag. I love the green insert and the fact that the lid stays up when you want it to and down when you want it tightly shut. Also, the compostable bag doesn't show when this bin is assembled (I tried another where it did show and it didn't look nice). So far I haven't noticed any odors, even after days with veggie and animal refuse marinating in there--maybe because the lid limits how much air gets in. Urban composting is really no hassle after all, and actually a plus, thanks to this nicely designed bin.

The compostable bags given for this device split and tear when you try to put the compatible liner on the bin. I tried 4 times with no success. The compost caddy looks nice but it not worth 49.99. The lid does not have a good seal around it so fruit flies get inside and have a huge propagation party. If you it for banana peels the smell will also seep out since there is not a good seal.

I don't know if my specific item sat out in the sun too long or something before getting to me, but the liners are completely useless. Just fitting them onto the can causes them to fall apart. Forget about expecting them to hold anything without disintegrating. See if you can tell which is which in the video (I apologize that it's vertical). That said, I really do like this compost caddy. It looks very nice attached to the side of the simplehuman trashcan we have and the fact that it's easily detachable to use next to whatever you're doing is great when cracking eggs or doing other kitchen tasks that could otherwise generate mess or result in extra dirty containers from bringing food scraps to the bin. The gentle magnet that holds the lid open when used attached to the trash can works perfectly and easily removable hard liner makes emptying the bin a breeze. I shot this video and am giving a low rating as a warning to other purchasers - if I hadn't already had some other compostable bags that kind of fit, I would have returned the bin on the first day. I'm still worried about buying the official simplehuman bags based on this experience but the slightly larger 3rd party bags work just fine.

Looks nice, bag doesn’t get stuck in it, but still getting flies which is why i paid a premium for this caddy

simplehumanのダストボックスは3代目でずっと愛用しています。現在、生ゴミ用は15Lですが、毎日ゴミ出しする捨てるわけではないので、生ゴミをそのまま捨てるとどうしても悪臭になってしまいます。そのため、一旦生ゴミを毎回スーパーにあるような薄いビニール入れて、それからゴミ箱に捨てていました。面倒だな〜と思っていたところ、シンプルヒューマンにこの「コンポストキャディ４L」という商品を見つけ購入しました。すごい！今までなら半日で臭くなる生ゴミが2日経っても匂いません。バナナの皮やフルーツの皮は臭わないけど、さすがに刺身のツマやキッチンシンクのゴミ受けに溜まったゴミは臭うだろうと思っていたら、抱え込んで嗅がないと臭いを感じません。本当に楽になりました。その上、大きなダストボックスの側面に取り付けることができます。２０２４年、買って一番良かった品です。

Complementa muy bien con otros productos de la marca Simplehuman pues viene con un adaptador para “colgarlo” a un costado de otros botes de basura grandes/dobles de la marca. Tiene precio un poco elevado para un bote de basura pero lo compensan su gran calidad y diseño. Por lo que hace a la durabilidad, los productos de esta marca son muy resistentes y se mantienen funcionales por más de 10 años, con un cuidado o mantenimiento mínimo-nulo. Lo mejor es que tiene un tamaño ideal para una o dos personas (4L), así ya sólo tienes que cambiar la bolsa 1 vez a la semana. Usa bolsas compostables Código Z de Simplehuman (viene 30 bolsas de regalo) pero puedes utilizar de marca genérica de 45x45cm y le quedan bastante bien.

We bought this alongside the matching 58L Simplehuman recycling bin, and together they make an excellent waste disposal system. The caddy spends most of its time attached to the bin, gets moved over to the food preparation area while cooking, then gets emptied into the main food waste compartment every couple of days. The removable inner bucket makes it easy to clean, the lid does a good job of keeping smells in, and it's solid enough that it doesn't feel like another bit of flimsy kitchen plastic. It's undeniably expensive for a compost caddy, but the build quality is excellent and it matches the larger bin perfectly. Sometimes it's nice when everyday objects are simply well designed. Recommended, particularly if you're already buying the matching bin.
