Perfect for budding percussionist
Quality is every bit as good as the large size, sound is, logically, not as large and vibrant. I bought it for the little one so he and dad could play together, his first real musical instrument.

Music to my ears
Ordered as a gift for a friends son. He had a toy one on his wish list and when I compared prices the real deal was a better deal and he will have it s long as he wants. It make a beautiful mellow sound. He was so happy with it and immediately started to play it and forgot he had other gifts to open. Excellent quality!

Mine was damaged and didn’t sound right
I picked this up to practice on while on long car trips, and when I accompany my wife on her metal detecting trips. However though it is not in a proper working order. The snare doesn’t make a sound, instead I hear a distinct tin can like sound coming from the bottom of the cajon, and that’s all the sound you hear other than the woody deep tones. It is very unsatisfying! Plus the thinner front plate of wood is separated from side of the body in a couple spots. The tin sound I’m talking about sounds like....Imagine you have an empty Altoids can, then you flick the lid shut. That quick shutting tin type sound made by the mints can lid is what this sounds like. Nothing like my large cajon. Now I’m debating on trying to get this mini Cajon fixed, or just send it back and invest the funds into something else.I contacted the company directly to ask about the issues I was receiving from the Cajon. I explained the snare sound wasn’t coming through because of the clamping method inside the box. The clamp was loose and that metal bar was making a clanking sound instead of the snare wires. This was their response.“Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about the trouble with your newMeinl cajon.I think this model may be too small for the tone you desire...it would befor me as well. While it's absolutely a percussion instrument that is meant to be played,it's also meant to be a fun display piece as well.We do offer a two year warranty; however, I'm afraid you'll need to contactAmazon for a refund or replacement. Please let us know if you have questions or need help in any other way.-Thanks again”

Eh
It’s cute, but we do t really hear the cajon sound. More like just beating on a hollow box lol. Bought it for a 1 year old, so that doesn’t matter.
