Gizmo DorksWe provide the highest quality 3D printing materials such as ABS, PLA, HIPS, PVA, and more. Our filaments are run with tight tolerances. There are no air bubbles or oily residues. Every filament comes loaded on a durable, hard plastic spool, not a cheap, flimsy cardboard spool.PLA, Polylactic Acid, is created from processing a number of plant products. PLA can be composted at commercial facilities unlike ABS which is derived from fossil fuels. PLA is a more earth friendly plastic. It is stronger and more rigid than ABS, and in general the printed objects will have a more glossy look and feel compared to ABS. Unlike ABS, PLA can be sanded and machined. PLA has a lower melting temperature compared to ABS. As a material, PLA has much less warping versus ABS. Additionally, a heated bed is not required to print it. PLA generally enjoys sharper details and corners compared to ABS without the risk of ing or warping. PLA can also be printed at higher throughput speeds.Compatible with RepRap, Makerbot, UP!, Lulzbot, Afinia, Solidoodle, MakerGear, Printrbot LC, and more!FAQ?Is the spindle hole large enough to fit my Makerbot printer?Yes! Our spindle holes are large enough to fit the Makerbot printers. You don't have to worry about fabricating a spindle extension any longer. *NOTE, these spools will not fit inside of the new Makerbot 5th generation printer drawers. You can still use these spools and feed the filament directly through the top of the printer. What other colors are available?PLA comes in a variety of different vibrant colors, 29 different options total.*New fluorescent colors are available. They glow under UV light, commonly known as black light.*New color changing filaments are available; the filaments will change colors at 31°C (88°F). The filament is one color below 31°C, and when it is heated above 31°C, the filament will change to another color.

Formula Changed - Terrible Now
Gizmo's translucent blue PETG was my favorite filament, but never in stock. I began printing in the PLA and it held up fine, and was just as beautiful.A bit ago, I began receiving my orders but the filament looked more cloudy. Still translucent (not important to me), but no where near as clear as it used to be. My prints began to have hairs coming off them...not strings as if I had retraction issues, but the tiniest of wisps. Then began the clogging, the half-extrusions and troubles. I spent the last two months so in love with this filament that I spent endless hours troubleshooting the printer and slicer itself, refusing to accept it as the (new formula) filament's fault. The other day, without changing anything else I changed filaments. Prints are as flawless as they were before...which greatly disappoints me in Gizmo Dorks. An older spool of their white is printing just fine, but now I'm afraid to order any new product from them as who knows what they've changed and made worse.I would rate this one star, but the filament truly is beautiful when it used to print.

Near-impossible to dial in correctly
My calibration tests and first print with this filament were perfect. The second print was an unmitigated disaster and, after 6 failed attempts, I switched back to the previous roll due to underextrusion, even after making adjustments to temperature, speed, and extrusion ratio. This material clogged up my Flashforge Creator Pro's heatbreak and nozzle completely, but after cleaning it out, I'm able to use my previous roll just fine.I'll probably try it again at some point, but for now, I'll keep using my other PLA, PETG, and TPU rolls that I know are good.

Oh what a tangled web we weave
The color and printability of this filament is superb. With that I have no issue. Currently, doing a 19.5 hour print. Have to sit and babysit the printer because every 5 min or so, I have to manually spin the filament wheel because the feed line is tangled under other filament on the spool. I personally would not recommend this filament to anyone except for the fact that the filament iteself... brb... need to go untangle....where was I... yeah, the prints are beautiful. Not kidding. While I was typing this, had to untangle. Contacted Gizmodorks about the issue, no response.

Needs more testing but not impressed
Filament was popping when trying to print at multiple temps between 185 and 205. that normally means that the filament has water in it and needs to be dried out. first go with with the wet filament the temp tower and it look good around 185 which is much lower then when I print with Hatchbox (200-205). Not happy that I just opened the spool I received yesterday and its water logged. I will update with picture of temp tower once dried and possibly increase rating.

What happened guys?!?
This is my first bad review ever in my life and I love leaving good reviews… I am fairly new to the 3-D printing world so I’ve been trying different brands… I’m going to assume this was not your guy’s fault but I will certainly not be putting this roll into my printer. The spool came without a single bag or paper or shrink wrap or anything. It was simply put in a beat up box with huge opening. the filament is not even put into a support hole and has unwound. It is incredibly dusty. I only bought it because the item description said it came with a specific resealable shrink wrap bag. No where to be found.. A bit misleading.. I kinda needed this today to for RSA…. I don’t know what happened guys but this stinks.Edit. Amazon has resolved the issue. Thank you!
