In a 7 year period from the autumn of 1972 to the winter of 1978, 10cc were rarely ‘off air’ as a series of singles repeatedly crashed the UK charts. With 11 top 10’s of which 3 hit the top spot,10cc established themselves as a stellar pop band capable of producing memorable, yet stylistically diverse songs with broad appeal.Formed in Stockport in 1968, the ability to create these very different yet equally catchy songs came from the fact that unlike most groups who’d usually have one songwriter or song-writing team, within 10cc there were two teams. Kevin Godley and Lol Crème were essentially more experimental and interested in the visual arts as much as song, whilst Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart were predominantly ‘pop’ writers. All were multi-instrumentalists and competent producers so in short each could very much ‘hold their own’ when it came to making music.Between 1972 and 1978 they would score 5 UK top 10 studio albums but despite the success and perhaps as a result of their huge individual talents Godley and Crème would depart in 1976 and go on to further success as a duo.More than just a best of, the Essential 10cc gives listeners the chance to engage with some of the best pop and most creative music of the 70s. What can I say? Iconic band. Fantastic collection. Crystal clear sound reproduction. Brings back my youth and many good memories. If you only know a few 10cc tracks its worth buying for the panorama of a stereophonic banquet. Fantastic.

For those who don't want another 10cc Greatest Hits album
Potential buyers should note that this album doesn't include any of the original tracks from their first 2 albums, '10cc' and 'Sheet Music'. There are 1977 live versions of 'Wall Street Shuffle' from 'Sheet Music', 'Ships Dont Disappear In The Night' from '10cc' and 'Waterfall', which was a bonus track on the '10cc' CD reissue. The following 8 10cc albums are represented by about 4 tracks each plus tracks that were not included on the original album releases but were on the CD reissues. So, for example, there are 2 tracks that weren't included on the original release of Deceptive Bends but were on the CD reissue. Their 10th album 'Windows in the Jungle' has 3 tracks plus the 1977 live versions of 'Dreadlock Holiday' and 'I'm Not In Love' that were on the CD reissue. I may spend some time exploring those later tracks as I lost touch with 10cc after 'Deceptive Bends' but I would say that this collection is for someone who wants to hear what 10cc did in their later years. There is some good stuff (the tracks from the album that I always thought was called 'Are You Normal' but is actually called 'Look Hear?' are rather better than I expected) but you miss the classics from '10cc' and 'Sheet Music' and would it have been that difficult to include a little booklet?

I love 10 cc.bought this collection which is fantastic but cant understand why 3 of their top hits wasnt included.donna.the dean and i and rubber bullets.otherwise a great listen.

40年来の英国10ccフリークです。CD-1は前期ヒット曲、CD-2はLive曲が中心、CD-3は中後期ヒット曲の構成となっています。コスパ的に良くお勧めです。
