The C3s are definitely more refined and handle vibrations better. Mostly due to the larger enclosure and added midrange driver. I also tried Wharfedale Diamond 225s but both NHT speakers have a much better sound in my opinion. **Q: How close in timbre are the c1s to the c4s? trying to see if i need c1s or c3s to match the c4s.** A: C4 is a floor-standing speaker C1 and C3 small satellite but with the same sound tone. C3 is a better to base sound better match with c4 but c3 is more expensive than c1. **Q: Is it okay to use the classic 2 center speaker with c3** A: I've owned both, they are voiced similarly so you wouldn't have any problems combining them in a home theater with a C2 center. Pretty much offers neutral sounding with pretty wide and deep soundstage with height that's just about right. Not as organic or revealing as the higher end Esoteric MG-20 pair that I have on the reference system but this will do for the price of 500 dollars a pair. This pair will put something like an LS3/5a to shame as the NHT has better bass extension and more resolving highs without being fatiguing to the ear.
