SewellHD-Link HL14 by, 1x4 HDMI Extender Splitter Over cat5e/6, 160 ft, Black, SW-32949

As an audio/video installation company, we love that these are "power over cable" (which is why we chose them), but that doesn't help the fact that they're are too finicky for professional use. I've installed many Sewell HDMI balun systems and about 30% don't work or fail after a few months. i.e. This most recent unit worked at the county health dept. meeting hall for about 3 months, then ports 5-8 just quit working. We messed around with distance and EDID settings but ended up replacing yet another Sewell product with another brand. This is a bummer since their design concepts and prices are excellent. I wanted these to be good... but they're not. 🙁

This product was so easy to use and easy to install. The picture quality has not been as great as I would have hoped for but it may the quality of the in house wiring and monitors we are using. Apart from my critical eye and that of our AV guy, most people who visit are super impressed with the sound quality and picture that comes through the system. Well worth the investment.

The 8 port splitter is incredibly flaky and practically unusable. A lot of cutting out of the video, audio, or both, even within 50ft of the box on new CAT6 cable. Ended up buying several pairs of the HL13 to run individually to each of the TVs and those work fine.

Bought in march for a on going job. Installed in September brand new out of box and it doesn't pass anything through the cat6. the hdmi pass through is the only thing that passes any video.
