Direct Social Work Practice: Theory and Skills

I'm so glad I was able to find this book at an affordable price. I learned a lot in class. This was a lot to digest, but very good at explaining theories in direct social work. Thank you!

Decent book for school. Not the best read, but serves its purpose.

I graduated 10 years ago with my Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Now, I find myself in the first semester of a Masters Program for Social Work.This book has been excellent in "refreshing" my brain on ideas and concepts I learned 10 years ago; not to mention it hit on social work material that had not been addressed in my Psychology program. But do not worry, there is plenty of new info in the book to process as well.Plus, considering it is a textbook, I find it to be very easy to read and understand, along with a nice layout. Also, at the end of each chapter is a summary, a list of related online content and some useful "skills development exercises"

I would say one of the best social work books out there. It really breaks down social work and social work skills. Bought it used and it was like new

I thought it was a great idea to order my textbooks, as opposed to buying them at the overpriced book store, to save some money. However, I was disapointed to learn this text did not come with the DVD like the one sold at the bookstore. I bought it from amazon, so it is not like I bought it from some random seller that removed the DVD. I'm going to hope the class does not require the DVD, but if it does I'll have to spend another $140.00, in addition to the $106.00 I already spent. There goes saving money.

This book was really easy to read and understand. Although how do you not understand lessons on how to "respond with empathy"? There are tons of little exercises in the book that make it easy to practice. The website that goes along with this book is also great for studying. It's free, you just have to go through a few steps to get there. I liked the book, but I didn't keep it for reference. I doubt I'll ever forget how to paraphrase or summarize!

Book was in very good condition. I was very happy to received it in just a few days. The information in the book is concise and relevant to the practice of social services. I plan to keep my copy as a useful resource for years to come.

This has by far been one of the best books I have had to get for school and I plan to keep this for a long time. I am trying to finish reading it even though I am done with that class. It explains things in such an easy way to understand. I just love this book.
