Schooltime Shampoo for Lice & Nit Removal- 350ml Highly Effective After One 15 Minute Application

Let me start by saying 1st that I did not have actual lice. (I'm thinking that might have been a cheaper and easier problem to get rid of lol). My house, my pet's hair, and my hair all became invested with Mite Larva which was really disgustingly gross. They came out of hiding through the furnace vents, closets, etc. within a day of the basement flooding.Long story short, the mite larva appeared following the flooding of my basement when my sump pump went out, this apparently ran off all the mice that had apparently been traveling between my attic and basement for lord knows how many years. (I have lived here for years, and have never seen a mouse in the house, nor any indication that mice were even present, but apparently they were).When the mice left following the basement flooding, 1st came the no seeums, followed by the mites looking for a new host, and then the mite larva soon followed. (Folks it was so gross).Thankfully with much expense, and removing all the old insulation from my attic and replacing it with new insulation, and an entire house spraying, the exterminators were able to get the problem in the house under control, but it was up to me to get rid of the problem on my pets and myself.I treated the pets with the recommended name brand flea, and tick treatment, gave them multiple baths in flea shampoo, Dawn dishwashing liquid, and tea tree oil, removed all the larva with a nit comb, and dusted them, and their clean washed in hot water, & dried on high heat bedding with food grade DE.I treated myself with a name brand Lice shampoo, combed through my hair with a nit comb, but when that didn't work, I coated my hair completely in olive oil, vinegar, tea tree oil, Denorex, etc.. I even covered my own clean bedding with food grade DE, and slept on it after having also sprayed myself down from head to toe with 40% Deet, but they wouldn't go away. The Denorex helped kill some of them, but it about set my head on fire in the process, so I had to keep searching for a solution that would end the nightmare.I finally decide after reading the reviews to try this shampoo even though it too was for lice. After leaving it on for 1 hour- as recommended in several other reviews (not just the 20 min recommend time on the directions), and after using it just 1 time thankfully it did the trick). This shampoo has a nice scent, although it didn't seem to lather a lot for me, but I coated my hair completely in it anyway, combed it through, put on a shower cap, and prayed lol.The shampoo almost felt like I was coating my hair in petroleum jelly, and I wondered how matted my hair was going to be afterwards, but once I rinsed it out, my hair was soft, manageable, felt amazing, and best of all, I was completely Bug Free, finally, and thankfully I haven't been bothered with them since. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that gross buggy ordeal will remain a thing of the past (not something I'll soon forget though).I know my story is a gross one, believe me I really know because I was forced to live the horror. As embarrassing as it is/was I thought I'd tell the story anyway because what happened to me could happen to anyone. I live in a very nice home, keep my home clean, my pets clean, and myself clean, yet there were icky rodents hiding in the walls that I was not even aware were there that left behind their yuckiness that invaded my entire home, and life within 1 days’ time, but thankfully this shampoo helped rid my hair of what they left behind. I might repeat a treatment just to be on the safe side, but for now there appears to be no reason to really do so.

Seems to work well when used as instructed (apply to dry hair, leave in for 15 minutes with occasional massaging, rinse out, and COMB). No it doesn't smell great and isn't quite odorless, but it's not horrible (in my opinion, at least). After hearing that many lice these days are resistant to existing OTC chemical shampoos and preferring to avoid the "pesticide" route if possible, we tried several "natural" or "less medicated" solutions: Cetaphyl (I actually like this one, but it requires repeat "dosing" over a couple of weeks, a long comb-out process - but what solution doesn't? and a day of broom hair after each application), olive oil under a shower cap (really messy), rubbing alcohol, combing, combing, combing, etc. I'm honestly not sure if the ingredients in this shampoo are truly "biosafe," but the shampoo is pesticide free and none of the ingredients raise major alarm bells for me (from the producers website: Ingredients: Polyethylene Glycol (Medical Grade), Proprietary Blend of Cocamide DEA (From Coconut Oil), Filtered Water, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate (From Coconut), Propanediol (From Corn), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride (From Coconut), Citric Acid No Color, No Fragrance, No Petroleum Based Or Animal Ingredients Added. No Pesticides Added. Cruelty Free.). This shampoo really does seem to get rid of the active lice (or stun them to the point they are rinsed or combed out easily) and loosen the nits. The nits seem to come out easier in the after-rinse comb-out than in a comb-out without the shampoo. We've done the lice thing two springs in a row now that my daughters are in elementary school, so I have a bottle of this to mix into regular shampoo occasionally (as the instructions suggest to ward off future infestations), a couple of bottles of Cetaphyl, a couple of the Nit Free metal combs, and Fairy Tales spray (also for prevention) on hand. I would love if next spring could be lice-free, but at least I feel confident in my current arsenal.

I bought this shampoo after hearing reports of lice at my daughter's school. I replaced her regular shampoo with this- in the hope that she would not get lice or any she picked up at school would be killed. Well- about a month after starting to use this- I did find about a dozen live bugs on her scalp, as well as many eggs. I used the NIX Super lice dimethicone treatment and combed them all out. 10 days later- no bugs or nits. I used it myself frequently during that month as I have long hair as well- I did find a few nits but no bugs. I never used it as a primary treatment -saturating dry hair for 15 min- just as a replacement shampoo for prevention. I feel like it definitely helped keep their numbers low until I could aggressively treat her. I will continue using it as her primary shampoo- it seems to clean really well and neither of us have had any bad reactions to it.

Let me start by saying that we have been dealing with lice since November. I have done multiple treatments with OTC lice shampoo such as Nix to no avail. My poor daughter (4 years old) would be screaming after I rinsed the shampoo out and chased live lice through her hair with the stupid comb, trying to catch them before they got lost in her hair again. I finally called her pediatrician and got a prescription thinking that would solve our problem. Gave the treatment as directed; planned to retreat in 7 days as recommended. On day 7, I got a call to pick her up from school as the nurse found lice in her hair. The prescription didn’t work either.I had ordered this product as a preventative shampoo, thinking the prescription treatment would have done the job and this would keep them away. I decided to use this as a primary treatment for lice. It saturated her hair thoroughly and started massaging the shampoo into her scalp. I set the timer on my phone for 15 minutes.Within 2-3 minutes, I was finding dead lice all throughout her hair. All sizes, all ages/stages - lice I NEVER would have seen with the naked eye. They were trying to crawl out of her hair, but died before they could get out. Before rinsing the shampoo out of her hair, I probably pulled out about 30 dead bugs. I never witnessed dead bugs with the OTC lice shampoos or the prescription permitherin treatment.I am amazed and overjoyed - this goes well beyond my expectations. I will never be without this product in my medicine cabinet again!

Nothing against Schooltime Shampoo because, like every other product in this category, shampoos alone (if they even help at all) will never cure your child's lice problem. We thought we'd picked all the nits and lice out of our daughter's hair because she was nit-free for days. Then we just used Schooltime for a few days. Checked the hair a week later and it was full of nits/lice. This is the case with every shampoo we've used. There is just no getting around picking the nits and lice out by hand.Edit: we have found it very helpful to use the Nit Free Lice Comb for pulling out nits and lice (much faster than hunting with the fingers and regular hair comb). Also, I want to say Schooltime is not useless and it is probably helpful overall, but it can't do the job alone. We use it as an extra tool to throw at what seems to be a now-permanent issue with our community.
