Great quality but to good to be true.
I bought these as replacements and they are great product but it depends on the gen of controller or perhaps the way they are molded. Now I say great product because they have a nice texted grip just like the original ps4 controller and they are robust, but this is where the issues are. After replacing your thumbsticks there is a chance that one or both of the sticks will be stuck in awkward positions. This is due to the thickness of the dome material that lays within the controller. (See pics) there are ways to fix this 1) grind away material from the new thumb stick, 2) grind material from the plastic housing of the controller or 3 buy from a different vender. I bought red and blue ones that are listed on Amazon just because I wanted to mix colors so I know which controller was mine. I don’t if I’ll get in trouble recommending another product while reviewing. But none the less I didn’t seem to have an issue with them. Yes seems kinda weird but just throwing options out.

Do not work with a PS5 controller
I've changed thumbsticks in the past in my PS5 controllers and used PS4 sticks and its been fine, but these have a little different roundness to the base of the sticks, and it causes friction with the controller itself. don't know if they'll work with a dualshock PS4 controller or not, but if you're buying these for a PS5 controller try something else.

Saved my first gen controller
First, please be very careful about opening and working on your controller. There are a lot of good YouTube tutorials about carefully replacing parts and modding. Second gen controllers are easier. First gen controllers have more tiny parts that need to be carefully accounted for and positioned correctly. To get to the sticks without damaging, you need to know what you are doing. If you've worked on electronics before then you shouldn't have any problems. Just get a schematic before you go prying it open.As for the sticks, themselves: My old ones were hanging off the bones so I needed some replacements. I bought these. I love them. They were incredibly cheap. They seem to be holding up pretty well. Plus, now I've got a whole bag of them.I wish they made the color sticks for the gold PS4 controllers. The gold controller sticks aren't quite black. Rather, they are a very dark grey, near-black. When it comes time to change those out, I suppose I could also use these but the color just won't match.

Great fix for worn out OEM sticks
If you watch a video these are easy to install. It requires removal of five small screws and manipulation of a couple of prongs and a couple of ribbon cables. Not a big deal. The only disappointment is that the new sticks could be made out of a slightly more dense plastic to match the heft of the OEM sticks. And FYI there is not any soft rubber surface on these replacements.
