Perfect tool for rocky soils
In the past two days I have absolutely flogged this tool, digging out three Dawn Redwood stumps and one Peach tree stump. Anyone who lives in central New York can attest that we have more rocks than dirt in our soil. The cutter mattock end hit at least a few hundred rocks while I hacked at the twisted root structure of the Redwoods, with no chipping at all. The corners rounded a little, but minimally. The blade with its teeth dug around the stumps with ease, while popping rocks out of the trench with hardly any effort. My 10 year old son just used it to expand some holes for a couple hydrangeas we are putting in, and he made faster progress on the holes than when he was using a shovel. Digging up sod was super easy and efficient as well. I had been researching tools primarily for making mountain bike trails, and saw too many design flaws in the popular wildfire products and recycled ag disc hoes (grab bag metallurgy, right?) So, after watching the YouTube videos for this tool, gave it a shot. The Maine-made handle is beautiful and comfortable. The welds took a beating, but again, if you know the metal you are using, the weld can be done properly. I will most likely get a second of these for Trail building. American ingenuity from New England at its best. Great job with this tool.

Perfect All-Around Garden and Landscape Tool
I love this thing!! I have been landscaping our yard and building rock walls, terraces, paths and steps. A mattock was too narrow and a pain to use, a hoe was too lightweight and flimsy, a shovel was too rounded. All along I was wishing for something exactly like this tool. It's perfect! It does everything I need - instead of struggling with three tools that weren't suited to the job, now I breeze along with ONE tool that does everything. It makes nice square, flat-bottomed ditches to lay in drainpipes, makes nice flat bases to lay my dry-stack field stone, moves a lot of dirt FAST to fill behind my walls, and easily cuts roots, all without switching tools - it can dig like a mattock but twice as fast and twice as easy, and it can lift the dirt away, too. I have also put it to work in the vegetable garden to amend soil and pull up weeds. I have been wishing for something like this for years. If I could only have one yard tool, this is the one.

I'm an archaeologist, and I'm always looking for new tools to try out in the field. I brought the Sitemaster out to a data recovery project in the Front Range, and I was surprised by how well suited it was for excavation. It's great for chopping through really tough sediment while still allowing for controlled and precise digging. The axe head on the back is perfect for chopping through thicker roots as well. A great tool to have handy on a project.

What a tool!
No need to buy a Lamborghini. Buy this! I was doing some yardwork after receiving my Sitemaster and some ladies walking by said, "What a tool!"But, seriously, this is a very useful and tough tool that makes easier work of a lot of digging chores and demolition.

Sturdy and handy tool!
I bought the Sitemaster for my husband for Father's Day and he just loves it! This multi-fuction tool was a huge help when he was clearing sod and making mulch beds in the garden this summer. It made cutting and clearing fast and easy, and it was easy to move soil as well. We know it will come in handy to help clear ice dams during our tough New England winters too. Can't say enough good things about this sturdy, multi-use tool!
