AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER “ I absolutely loved Invisible Girl— Lisa Jewell has a way of combining furiously twisty, utterly gripping plots with wonderfully rich characterization—she has such compassion for her characters, and we feel we know them utterly… A triumph!” —Lucy Foley, New York Times bestselling author The #1 New York Times bestselling author of None of This Is True returns with an intricate thriller about a young woman’s disappearance and a group of strangers whose lives intersect in its wake. Young Saffyre Maddox spent three years under the care of renowned child psychologist Roan Fours. When Dr. Fours decides their sessions should end, Saffyre feels abandoned. She begins looking for ways to connect with him, from waiting outside his office to walking through his neighborhood late at night. She soon learns more than she ever wanted to about Roan and his deceptively perfect family life. On a chilly Valentine’s night, Saffyre will disappear, taking any secrets she has learned with her. Owen Pick’s life is falling apart. In his thirties and living in his aunt’s spare bedroom, he has just been suspended from his job as a teacher after accusations of sexual misconduct—accusations he strongly denies. Searching for professional advice online, he is inadvertently sucked into the dark world of incel forums, where he meets a charismatic and mysterious figure. Owen lives across the street from the Fours family. The Fours have a bad feeling about their neighbor; Owen is a bit creepy and suspect and their teenaged daughter swears he followed her home from the train station one night. Could Owen be responsible? What happened to the beautiful missing Saffyre, and does her disappearance truly connect them all? Evocative, vivid, and unputdownable, Lisa Jewell’s latest thriller is another “haunting, atmospheric, stay-up-way-too-late read” (Megan Miranda, New York Times bestselling author). Review: Highly recommended - The book came new, since that's how I bought it. This was a well written book by Lisa Jewell. She always writes very well and keeps you interested. Great cliffhanger ending. I recommend this book. Review: WOW, best book in a while! - So, I have, for whatever reason, dodged Lisa Jewell’s books until now. This was a great intro to her work! The book was a fairly quick read for me once I got into it. The story was a different kind of interesting, as it brought up some thought provoking social and domestic issues. None of the characters were insufferable, not even the villains. The story built nicely, with multiple layers being steadily uncovered with not much dead space to wade through. All around great! Let’s talk about the ending, though. SPOILERS AHEAD I loved the fact that it was a happy ending and that justice was served. I didn’t love Alicia being redeemed so much, as I have little-to-no sympathy for cheaters. BUT - I get the point she was trying to make about men who appear awesome and end up being horrible. It did feel a little PSA-ish about that point. But I digress….The one thing that puzzled me about the ending, and evidently puzzled others based on my attempt to find clarification, was who the other culprit(s) were. I would believe it was just Roan, and I’m 98% sure it was, but I can’t move on from Josh and his friend talking about “the masks coming off” and “no more mister nice guy.” Was that incel talk? Were there three, maybe four attackers? That was never explained. So, instead of that conversation serving as a red herring that’s ultimately undone, it leaves you with a sliver of doubt just big enough to keep the story feeling slightly unresolved for all time. UGH - it’s a bit annoying, but not enough to ruin the book. Fantastic, loved it. My next book will be one by Lisa Jewell!

Most ppl wear a mask, some are just better at hiding it
This book was ok. It has some good twists to it. Some things were a little hard to believe even for psychological thriller fiction. The story has three main characters and side characters that all intertwine somehow. The moral of the story is you never really know a person until they reveal what’s under their mask. What are they hiding and why? Some people don’t wear masks they just go through life wearing blinders so as to not see what’s going on in their own life even though they may feel something is off. There is a saying that I love and use when necessary, You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all of the time. The story didn’t get a higher rating bc it was kind of bland. Not as exciting. I felt bad Owen - he is a man in the book that lives the most boring and sad life. No friends, he’s lonely, awkward, emotionally immature, and gets blamed for things all based on situations where he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. So again, it’s a decent book. Not as good as her others.

A well-written psychological novel you may want to check out.
Even though I found this book (Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewel) a somewhat interesting psychological novel; nevertheless, I found it to be also be a little bit challenging because the author writes about people and incidents happening in her own country, England. She uses many terms that many Americans may not be familiar with, but she is a good writer who knows how to weave a story that keeps you guessing. If you are a fan of Lisa Jewel, you may want to check out this novel.

Just Lisa Jewell being Lisa Jewell 💕
Oh my goodness, what an absolute rollercoaster of a book! Lisa Jewell has completely outdone herself with this one, and I am officially obsessed! From the very first page, I was entirely sucked into this neighborhood full of secrets, and I simply could not lay it down. I stayed up way too late turning pages.

Well Written But Somewhat One-sided
I share the author’s interest in the social and psychological effects of toxic masculinity, but I found her staging if you will lacking balance, emphasizing women’s points of view and not the perpetrators. The slow-paced narrative and character development furthers the emphasis. Perhaps a larger scope than areas of London will provide more balance, say several cities and rural areas. I would like to understand more about what drives men to violence.

That ending tho...
I’ve listened to a few of Lisa Jewell’s books now, and they always manage to pull me in. Invisible Girl was no exception. I was immediately drawn to the premise of the invisible girl, but what really hooked me was the narrator and the way the story unfolded. This is a story full of twists and turns that constantly mess with your expectations. You think, ahh, that’s what’s happening, and then it shifts. Nope, the plot thickens. Okay, now I definitely see where this is going… nope again. Each time you think you’ve got it figured out, the story quietly pivots and proves you wrong. The plot is masterfully laid out, built layer by layer. As each layer is revealed, the bigger picture becomes clearer, and everything starts to connect in a way that feels intentional rather than chaotic. That slow reveal is what kept me captivated the entire time. I also appreciated how most characters ended up with the ending they deserved. That said, the final moments deliver one last twist right at the dead end, leaving you with no neat closure. It is frustrating in the best way. You are left sitting with it, assuming that karma will catch up eventually, even if the story does not spell it out for you. Overall, Invisible Girl is another strong example of why Lisa Jewell’s psychological thrillers work so well. It is gripping, cleverly structured, and keeps you second guessing yourself until the very end.
