Great Unit if You can find the actual IR Sensor location on your AVR
I recently purchased a Sony ES STR-AZ5000ES receiver to replace an older Denon unit. The Denon AVR remote worked well through the closed glass cabinet door but the Sony did not. It would power up everything but would not respond to volume changes. I bought this IR Extender and installed it and it wouldn't work. I stuck the IR transmitter directly over the spot where the Sony manual shows it.Guess what? The Sony manual is dead wrong because that isn't even close to where the actual sensor is located. A fellow Sony owner (ohmantics) on the Sony support site somehow discovered that the sensor is located about 2.75" to the right of where the manual shows it. Once I stuck the transmitter on this spot, it worked as advertised. All good now. Thanks again ohmantics - how in the world did you find the right spot??This is an absolute bargain at $10.99!!

Update: working better - Original: Very weak signal, sensitive to placement
Yes, it works BUT. Using it to control a Sony TV which is in a built-in space and remote sensor is difficult to access from the couch. Finally got it to work, but even 1/16 of an inch difference and it won't work. Finally got it set up to work, and the next day did not work. Fooled around with placement, got it to work, and then a couple minutes later didn't work again. Frustrating, wondering if powering from AC cube would give more power than the USB socket on the TV. And yes, the TV has to be on for it to work, so it won't work to power on the TV if connected by USB.Update: working better - plugged into wall with USB cube. Finally found a spot where it worked, had to put down with duct tape to keep it there. Now working OK for weeks.

Works well, when you get it lined up, and while it stays stuck.
If the receiver spot on your device is small, getting the two aligned can be tricky, but it works well after that. The adhesive did not last very long though so I'll be looking for some better tape to hold it in place.

Just What I Needed!
I bought a DVD player for my TV set, and wanted to put it behind the TV. Unfortunately, the player refused to recognize its remote control since the receiver pointed to the side behind the TV, so I bought this infrared extension unit. I stuck the IR receiver on the top front edge of the TV, while the IR transmitter was stuck directly on the infrared receiver on the DVD player. Voila! The control works perfectly, every time! A nice feature is the fact that the receiver winks when it receives a signal, so you know it's working. Saved me a lot of trouble shooting, as one half of the outlet extender I had used behind the TV had no power and I didn't know that until I tried its other side. I replaced the outlet extender with one that also had USB power, saving one more power brick.Caveat: Be sure you know which end of the IR repeater is its receiver and which end is its transmitter BEFORE you remove the sticky tape covers for mounting; I reversed them by accident (just my dumb luck), and after putting them back on correctly, the sticky was somewhat less effective. Oh well.Thumbs up for a great device!
