An excellent toaster.
Amazing toaster. Positive controls/knobs/buttons etc give a quality feel that you expect from a £100+ toaster!Quick to toast 4 slices perfectly evenly and to identical levels of toastyness which is ideal. Yes it takes a few attempts to setIt up precisely but this is the only toaster I have used that when each side is set to the same level.... they toast at the same level; which is how it should be for a top end toaster. Then there's the bagel function.... I'll be honest; I thought a waste of time... just stick them under the grill like any normal person has done for the last 20 years and get on with it. Then I though what the heck they designed it for a reason so why not use it as intended. Sooooo much quicker and no grill pan to wash up. Perfectly toasty one side, perfectly warm and doughy the other. The crumb tray is easy to remove and wash.Love the fact you can change the end panels to match in decor, we have changed ours from stainless to yellow. Also other items in the 'Architect' range can be purchased to match. We have also purchased the sandwich toaster cages to fit. They hold the bread and fillings snugly so they don't fall out, another well thought out feature.Ultimately I think it's a fantastic bit of kit that has the options to personalise. It does what it should do and it does it well. Yes it is expensive for a toaster but for the quality I have experienced in comparison to our old one (micromark for about £60 5yrs ago) is well worth it.

Expensive for 18 months of use - avoid!
Was I happy with this toaster? Yes, generally. It looked good and generally worked well, apart from the slots being way too small to accommodate anything larger than sliced white bread. The reason for the one star review? Well, after a little over 18 months of use, one side of the toaster totally failed to work. So I dutifully sent the toaster back to Dualit (at my cost) for repair (knowing it was outside of the 1 year warranty and I'd likely have to pay to have it fixed) only to receive this letter, telling me it is essentially unfixable, and that I'd even have to pay to have it returned to me! To me this is simply unacceptable. A modern product at this price point has to be built to last at least 3 years, ideally longer, but making it literally irreparable is both an insult to the customer, but also an appalling message to send in this age of instant disposability. I fully expect that my opinion won't stop many from buying this product, but I do at least hope that it might trigger some degree of caution. Let's face it, £100 is a lot for a toaster. If I were you, I'd consider an alternative brand that cares a little more about both the environment and their customers.

I expected better from Dualit so just 1 star
Dualit of all people should know how large typical supermarket large thick sliced bread is. They wont fit the toaster either way round. For sensible use especially from frozen the slots would need to be deeper, probably by 20mm or the slots would have to be made wider. Unfrozen they can be forced in but the things that centre the bread aren't capable of holding them central against any resistance to movement. Also seem to have problems centring the bread if the top of the bread is left sticking out. They are just not man enough for the job really even with bread placed in like that.I don't eat this type of bread myself but members of my family do. My size of slice is ok. One curious aspect was that for a good deep golden brown at the edges the centre is rather black. Also having used the toaster 4 times for 2 slices why did the 3rd ones burn badly at the same timer setting. Just like all toasters I have ever used it needs that setting so that the bread can be turned over part way through to get even results on both sides.Bought to replace a Morphy Richards toaster. Like all toasters the elements are now rather oxidised so the toasting isn't as even as it used to be.John-

Best purchase I’ve ever made!!!
This is the best purchase I’ve made this year - along with the matching kettle - I absolutely love it!It’s solid, easy to use, has a modern industrial look to it that enhances my kitchen & is well worth the extra expenditure. As a design ARCHITECT won the 2016 WHICH product review & I can definitely see why. I’ve asked my family to all chip-together to get me the ARCHITECT MULTI-BREW coffee machine for a joint birthday/Xmas present. Honestly I’m in love. It pushes all the other designs into the shade. AND if you fancy a change in colour, you can unscrew the panels & choose from an option of 12 alternatives!!! Genius!

Uneven toasting
I’ve only just bought this as my daughter was nagging me to buy a toaster that was quicker than the one we had.It does toast my bread faster than my ‘old’ toaster BUT one side is burnt and the other is paler! The pictures I’ve included are of the same slice of bread. This is the second toaster I’ve bought and the same thing... I’m considering returning it but would appreciate the company who sold it, to contact me.I don’t think it’s right that this happens to a toaster that costs this much.I think this must be a bad batch... where maybe the element has broken...?Disappointed
