Great work!
I appreciate the amount of work the author has put into this book Blackness and Islam, even he cared to mention every reference he used. First, I was shocked by the false prophetic sayings that claimed inferiority to our Black brothers and sisters. I never knew about those hadiths. At first, I wondered why a knowledgeable scholar would care to mention those fabricated hadiths. But, I thought to myself, if someone doesn’t know about those false hadiths, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Eventually, I realized that in a time of turmoil like we live now, the Muslim community needs leaders who would still step up, highlight the wrong and say it's wrong and why it's wrong. The Muslim community needs scholars that would speak the truth and show their stance on controversial issues fearlessly and blatantly to enjoin the good and forbid the evil. The first impression, as a reader, you might think that the book speaks to Blacks, but this is not true. Non-Blacks should get a grasp of this knowledge and learn about the stories and the identities of Black holy figures, Black prophets, and Black companions around the Prophet PBUH as well. The Non-Black community or the immigrant community in general needs to educate themselves beyond Bilal; May Allah be pleased with him! This work is genuinely essential, especially for non-Black Muslims who live in the West, because racism reached a new level of hideousness upon our Black brothers and sisters; especially those who live in the west as they have to suffer from insurmountable compounded layers of racism that started centuries ago when their ancestors were forced to immigrate and were shipped unwillingly on slavery ships. The non-Black Muslim community shouldn’t add up to the pile of misery by their ignorance and arrogance. Non-Blacks should go above and beyond, learning that the Black shade of skin color wasn’t a reason to alienate Black prophets, Black holy figures, or Black companions.A step toward ending intraracism within the Muslim community is to start educating and stop alienating.Great work!
