Essential, Inspiring and Practical Ideas for Surviving,Thriving and Leading in the Workplace
This is a book full of bite-size nuggets for everyone in the professional world – for seasoned professionals wanting to polish up a bit, for those newly entering the workforce, for mentors, and for those who want to reinvent themselves in new or old settings. It is practical, accessible, wise and based on research. Beverly Jones has done the research and the reader gets the benefit. Everyone who reads it will do at least one thing better immediately while being inspired to try many others at the right time. In some cases, the examples and suggestions are reminders of things executives know generally but don’t always remember when faced with the situation. For example, the “no-meeting day”, the tips on productive meetings, the “sugar grain” approach to positive change and tweaking your brand! Each page is packed with truly good ideas. Think Like an Entrepreneur, Act Like a CEO makes a wonderful gift for leaders and aspiring leaders in any field and at any career stage.

Very effective strategies
I purchased this book in early December (2015), and I’ve been trying out the different solutions Bev suggests. They’re all practical, and those I’ve tried I’ve found to be effective. For example, in the chapter on building presence, Bev provides a checklist of key factors affecting how others see us. I recognized in myself the things I did to undermine my presence. So I’ve been following Bev’s suggestions for speaking more directly, without hesitation or self-deprecation/degradation. As a result, I’ve noticed that others pay more attention to what I’m saying and they respond more positively to what I say. Plenty of other suggestions have been effective too, like ways to better understand what motivates the people around us, “managing the boss,” building self-confidence and the 80/20 rule about prioritization. It’s a very worthwhile book. I highly recommend it to anyone starting a career or to others like me, who are looking to set a new career path.

Valuable advice for every professional!
How many times have you left a meeting and thought "well, that was a waste of my time!" And how many times have you run a meeting and wondered if you've done it in an efficient, productive way? Bev offers practical advice we can all incorporate into our professional lives regardless of the profession or the project. As I read this book, I thought repeatedly "why didn't I realize that? Why didn't I do that?" The strategies Bev offers are easy to understand, remember and practice. I only wish this book had been written when I began my career. I believe I could have been more successful if I'd had this in my toolbox!

Playbook for all
The best coaches are those who can demonstrate the value of positive action. Bev Jones embodies that skill. This brilliant book was a great choice as a Christmas present for myself and for a friend. Others have made great points here about its value. I want to recommend it especially for women. Jones's cogent advice hits home as I think about how many women I've known who have sabotaged their own careers because they have been raised to be quiet, to settle and to apologize without reason. This book is a tonic. Jones offers a path out of self-sabotage and into success. She unfailingly shows that success of the best kind always occurs with grace and self-awareness. She proves that assertiveness does not need to be confused with aggressiveness. Again, good playbook for all from an accomplished career coach.

So-so
Reads like 50 blog posts rather than a book. Thought it was a bit light. Not a lot about running your own business, more about running your team/division in a bigger organization.

Made me feel good about the voice in my head!
This is fun and honest look at self-evaluation that I found easy to read and informative. This is a book for everyone, even those who already feel they have the confidence to succeed in the professional world. The author's expertise is evident but not in the preachy way that other lifestyle guides tend to be. If you are looking to succeed in your current career or are looking to change careers, this is a must-read. It will help build your confidence and give you some great new ideas for how to manage your insecurities.

Outsanding tips for tacking life's most difficult challenges
"Think Like an Entrepreneur - Act Like a CEO" is exactly what I've been looking for! Reading through the tips, Beverly E. Jones, has cut to the chase. This book provides clear, simple and practice tips for approaching the most difficult workplace challenges. But it doesn't stop there. It's also a great place to begin if you are looking to make career change or find your career changing before you are ready. It's so good I've bought it for a few colleagues, friends and family!

A good addition to the personal library
Regarding the good side of the book, I have to say these. 1) Had I read the book some 10 years ago, then my career would have been in a different & higher trajectory by now. 2) Unlike other self-help books, the author do not force the readers to do a lot of junk reading during her explanation. Regarding the downside, I have the following observation. 1) Except in a few chapters, she failed to number the solutions for each problems. Even though the author (presumed to be a first generation post WWII top rung corporate woman) has written the book as if she is mentoring young women in the corporate world, (except chapter 45 which is written especially for women) the book and the techniques mentioned can be quite useful for the men too (as she has achieved career success in male dominated world). The only point where I differ from the author is regarding the mentor-mentee relationship. Unlike the author, I believe that the mentee has no right to choose who his/her mentor should be. It is in fact the right of the mentor to choose who is going to be his/ her mentee.

An indispensable toolkit for enhancing one's approach to career and life!
Beverly Jones' "Think Like An Entrepreneur, Act Like A CEO" is a game-changing guide to developing the professional and life skills necessary to achieve a balanced, fulfilling career in any field. Drawing from her accomplished and diverse background in law, consulting, and career coaching, Beverly shares real-life anecdotes of common challenges faced by professionals at different stages in their careers. Bite-sized chapters read like advice from a wise, trusted friend, chock-full of “sugar grain”-sized changes one can easily implement into daily routine to build relationships (e.g. better listening skills), correct personal habits (e.g. awareness of style and speech), improve organization (e.g. managing your calendar), and how to gracefully respond in specific situations (e.g. how to accept praise and ‘clever ways to brag’). In tackling big picture goals (e.g. improving self-discipline, building leadership style, creating symbiotic mentorships) Beverly leads the reader through sets of questions carefully designed to inspire reflection and methodical action. Within these pages Beverly has generously laid out her tried and true philosophy for incorporating pragmatism, positive thinking, and good-old-fashioned manners - values that will genuinely enhance your approach towards work and life overall.

Book is really good, but has a lot of bugs on the kindle. There's no page numbers, index, location goes to zero frequently throughout the book. Other than the technical bugs, it's excellent
