It's funny and cute! Induces smiles.We had an issue with driveway alert on our porch because the neighbor had one too and it set ours off and vice versa. Got this in place of that as an alert system on the porch. While not designed for outdoor use, the porch is covered so it will probably be okay and at and this price point it's certainly worth a try! It does not detect light or motion "visually". What it detects is the percussion of noise. If deliveries are put on your porch with any thump or someone walks up and the porch percusses when they step, it will go off. If someone walks by quietly and thud free it will not detect that. Same idea with indoor applications.Arrives in its own box. It takes 3 AAA batteries. There is a screw closure type battery cover but the one we got had no screw in place which was just fine and even preferred. It stays on fine and doesn't need to be screwed closed. When you put batteries in and it doesn't work, don't fret. There is a little on/off button that you may not notice right away because it's disguised as a tiny stump. Just push it down and you have bird sounds! Little bird turns her head and flutters her wings when she chirps. We have an indoor cat that has lost interest in most cat toys but when she saw this, the cat got very interested and excited first actually pawing at in, circling it and interacting with it, then returning to the cat tree, staring at it and chirping at it, even when it was silent. During its indoor trial run, in the way the cat sits at the window and stares at the birds through the window with intrigue, she also did with this bird. Even the dog was highly intrigued! The chirping bird is not a toy for children. It's a decorative and fun novelty item that may prove useful in certain circumstances.UPDATE: As mentioned before it goes off as a result of percussion. There has been no issue (moisture) having it on a covered porch. It turns out it does not work for what we ordered it for. We usually do not hear it from the porch, when we are inside. So, while I can't recommend it for that off-purpose use (of a porch alarm to alert those inside), it is still a good product when used as intended. It was worth a try and is a fun novelty. We brought it back indoors and it still works fine, entertains the animals.

The media could not be loaded.  I can't wait to use it as a prop in a forest. I love the bird sound. It sounds real. It was easy to snap on.

Looked nice but was not motion and would not stay in place. The bird kept falling down. I would not buy again.

I bought this for my little great-niece and great-nephew. When I pressed the button and they heard it for the first time, and watched the bird dance, they were really taken by it! This is the first thing I've seen to take them away from their computer games!

This is such an adorable gift, it looks real and everyone from little kids to our Momma loves it💗

I've had this for awhile now and still love hearing it sing unexpectedly as I walk by. Lol. Everyone that see it loves it. Just beautiful ❤️
