1/4" and 1/2" look totally different
We ordered a bag of the 1/2" and a bag of the 1/4". The 1/4" look more transparent and also more of a gray color (we ordered the black) the 1/2" are far more of a pure black and also more of the "mirror" reflective look which looked way better. To save money we put the 1/4" on the bottom and it looks fine that way... but if we move the firepit and it mixes together more, it may not look so good. Its rather expensive either way though, so we're kinda disappointed in the 1/4".

Did the job!
Used to replace lava rock in indoor gas fireplace. Mixed black & copper in equal amounts to get the look we wanted. Bit of confusion on how much we needed for our space. Plenty left over (from two 10 lb. bags). Wish we could have purchased 3 lb. or 5 lb. bags as we saw in other brands. Hopefully can use in other applications. Nice product! Arrived as promised.
